Loser gets swept out of the playoffs by the Spurs; Winner gets a puncher's chance at an upset of the SloppySeconds.
5 PM PT, 8 PM ET on ESPN
Both are currently standing on 49-32 records with a chance for 50.
What's at stake? Loser gets San Antonio, winner gets Oklahoma City.

I gotta think DAL wants SA, but they've also been adamant about wanting to get back to 50 wins.
MEM isn't swingin' their s so violently w/ re to their SA matchup either, and might like the shot at another lower seed upset against OKC.
So, I guess, in short: no ing idea.
Don't be so pessimistic. Dirk elevates his game in the playoffs, the Mavs are going to surprise some people imo.
Unfortunately, let's not forget that he's teammates with Vince Carter...
VC has gotten crazy hot and he's a veteran. They always perform much better in the playoffs. I'm not saying they will pull off an upset...just that there is a higher chance than people are letting on.
It's obvious that Dallas should want the Thunder. They beat them in the season series this year while getting swept by the s down South
please
I just don't have a lot of faith in Vince anymore. His best playoff performance was more than 10 years ago when he led the Raps to 1 game short of the conference finals. A couple of years later he was laughing in the bench while faking one injury to another. He went to New Jersey but they did nothing significant.
When he actually got to the ECF with Orlando in 2010, he did this
Wow. I didn't realize they'd won the season against OKC.
Well, me.
i'll pass
Eh, half man half season is true. But VC seems to have a different demeanor this season. The guy plays aggressive defense (at least from what I've seen). Monta and Calderon are the X factors. Jose is supposed to be some 3 pt specialist but can only hit from 3 in blowouts.
Hard to watch Dirk run around these days, tbh... those knees are really bothering him... but he'll show up. Vince Carter has also played great as the 6th man, probably their second best player.
The problem for Dallas is guys like Calderon, Harris and Monta to an extent. The first two should be self-explanatory, and in the case of Monta is that he's feast or famine... he can get you in and out of a game in record time.
Not against this Spurs team. They would be lucky to win a game and not get swept. Now, OKC on the other hand, they would have HCA and the best player on the floor, but the Mavs can hang with them. Beating the SloppySeconds is not out of the realm of possibility. Beating the Spurs is.
Unless they've changed it recently, the 6 & 7 seeds are worse places to be than the 8.
If you can beat the 1 as an 8, you face the 4/5 winner.
If you beat the 2 as a 7, you face the 3/6 winner.
It was incredibly re ed that the 2 Spurs and 3 Suns played each other in the second round in 2007 while the 4 Jazz played the 8 Warriors.
They should reseed after every round.
lazy venti on dat one
Mavs will get swept regardless of who they play. You can't win in the playoffs with only 5 good players.
Dirk, Calderon, Matrix, Monta, VC................................................ ................................. Dalembert??
Carter is not that bad. Its when Mavs put in the grizly bear blair that goes downhill. Fast![]()
I hope Memphis loses. They may not kowtow to the Spurs.
The Spurs could rest Parker the entire series and still win in 5.
The only way the Mavs are going to surprise some people is if they don't get swept.
Memphis' style of play gets destroyed by the Spurs... we have bigs that can handle theirs, and our offense has had success against them due to the passing and getting Z-Bo out on the perimeter with the PnR. Memphis' defense thrives against iso-players since they have good iso defenders with Gasol backing them up if they do get blown by. Their slow-down tempo can give OKC fits, while the Spurs are just fine in the halfcourt.
Mavs would get swept by the Spurs...
