I don't get what Philip is talking about. Mavs deserve credit, but they are a mediocre to below average defense (especially for a playoff team) that has a gimmicky strategy that would literally only work against the Spurs. They are playing well above their heads collectively and because of that, its been a great series.
And I never said they were anything more than exactly that. I've said a number of times that I'm not saying Dallas is the better team, or that they are/were/should have been considered the favorite. I figured they would get swept or lose in 5 at the very best.

But they are no where near the team that the Spurs are. Spurs have played incredibly poorly and I agree with that it says more about the Spurs than the Mavs. The fact the Mavs didn't lose in 5 & the fact they could have won this series is a huge testament to their coach and players. But make no mistake - Spurs are clearly the better team.
I don't disagree with this in the least bit. In fact, I have pretty much said the same thing all along. What upsets me is the fact that the Mavs had opportunities to not just steal a couple games, but actually put this series out of reach and even win it, but failed miserably when those opportunities arose. For instance, the poor 7 minute stretch to end game 1 wasn't really great defense by the Spurs, because the Mavs had plenty of open and good looks, but they went cold, made bad decisions with the ball, and generally just sucked badly in that stretch, while the Spurs capitalized on it. The last 3-4 minutes of game 4 they had a bunch of good looks (especially Dirk) that they again could not convert, and had little to do with the Spurs defense, because they were getting flat out open and good looks. Not to mention missing 10 FTs.

The Mavs were trying to steal the series, and in their efforts, the Spurs basically gave them the keys and said "do it". The Mavs tripped over their own feet before even getting to the door, and the Spurs walked up, took the keys back while laughing, and told the Mavs to go choke on a . Now the opportunity that was basically gift-wrapped to them is gone. That's why this series is frustrating to me.

True. Bald Jew is rigging every series except the two that are already done, to ensure that every series go 7 games so he will get the most TV revenue possible.

Chicago was so unwatchable that the NBA actually fixed their series to end to early...

The Mavs could very well beat the Spurs tomorrow and force a Game 7. I want my Spurs to win, of course, but after 6 and other varieties of epic choke jobs in the last four years (2012 WCF and 8), Spurs fans are smart enough to know that this series is not over until the final whistle.

I know I think the series against the Spurs in 2010 really lit up Dirk's ass, which resulted to a Mavs championship in 2011. The Spurs were a number 7 seed back then while the Mavs were number 2 if I remember correctly.

The Spurs clearly have more talent but it's equally obvious Carlisle is a much better coach than Pop at this point tbh... That's why it's still up in the air...

For 3 or so years Tim played old. Last year was a renaissance for him, and Spurs fan acts like he's always been that active (present company not included).

He was also pretty solid in 2011-2012 too iirc. Basically the last three seasons have been bounce-back years.

Yeah, Tim started to come back on in that 20-game win streak two years ago. But people forget that four years ago, Duncan looked on his way out of the league (averaging 13 and 9). It was only after the Medium Three and Diaw came into the picture that Tim started looking like his own self.
