The "and stuff" part is by far the most interesting. Smith's value shouldn't be higher than a third- or fourth-rounder right now. I wouldn't make the deal unless Smith, SanFan's first and either both of their seconds or a second, third and fourth were included. Then again, Oakland did do a massive trade down for what people thought was a huge discount last year. You never know.

I don't mind waiting longer for the draft, really. It adds a little intrigue to what is already dead time in the football calendar. The thing I do mind is that the draft is conflicting with the NBA playoffs more obviously than it did last year, and it being a week later means it might leak into the most important games in the conference semis or even the first game of the conference finals. I know football is king in this country, but they don't have to purposefully conflict with the most important part of the NBA season. I'm already going to be switching back and forth tomorrow.
