definitely agree. I think without Nike and Stern, MJ would've easily been a top 10 player on his own. I watched an old interview with Isaiah Thomas where he thought Jordan was the best player before he rang. So he would've been a game changer regardless, but once he started making loads of cash for the league, Stern went overboard in protecting him.
I grew up watching MJ dominate so it's pretty much impossible for any player to top him in my book, esp considering how much of a cynical asshole I've become as I've gotten older.
But that aside, Bron's 2011 Finals Performance ruined any chance of him ever overtaking Jordan tbh. He was terrible in that series. He's got a decent shot at becoming No. 2 all time and that's a great accomplishment considering he's the most physically gifted athlete to ever play in the NBA.
