He was great against the Heat last year so maybe he'll pick up where he left off.
10 ppg on 48% TS is not what I'd call great. And his defense was god awful against the Heat last year.

He'll have a Portland type series. Matchups most favorable of entire playoffs.

Playing huge starter minutes, guarding Wade. I'd think in a reduced role without such a burden would help him.

Belineli is terrible, and the more he plays, the harder it is for the spurs to win.

And the idea that he's fine if he's hitting shots is ridiculous. Look at game 6 okc: sure he hit a 3, but at the cost of giving up an open 3 to Fisher and of course his defending Durant which needed a double team leading to a three for ibaka.

He is awful. Besides losing his man like Neal he also has all sorts of other problems. Watch 6 against okc I think it was where he sets a moving screen on Mills when trying to play defense and does a great job of tying Mills up as though that was his goal.

If pop didn't finally bench him against Dallas they life in the first round. , even against Portland in game 3 pop had to keep him on the bench in the second half to be safe and ensure the victory.

it kinda sucks, the manu/marco dynamic that was so successful in the reg season was going to be so fun to watch in the playoffs. shame it largely hasn't happened imo.

Yeah. It was so beautiful. It seemed Marco couldn't miss then too. There were a few months there, if I am completely honest, when I really though Marco should take Green's spot. I also wondered if Marco might be the heir apparent to Manu. How wrong I was on both counts.

Link to Belinelli's stats vs the Heat. His stats are terrible.

right there with you, wonder if he just got the yips but why would marco be nervous, guys played on the big stage before and doesn't have a huge role here.

I re-watched the regular season win in SA against Miami and Belineli was awful on defense. Staggeringly bad. He honestly might be worse than Neal. One of the worst defenders in recent Spurs history.

His defense was atrocious, and nearly every time Miami involved him in the play Miami scored or at least got a very good look.

Number one, he was put on Lebron for some possessions. Which could happen in the Finals, unfortunately. And he was roasted. He was either scored on, or needed help which led to a made three off the double team just like what happened when Pop put him on Durant. Obviously he couldn't guard Wade.

He wasn't great guarding shooters off the ball either. Belineli covering Allen or Battier isn't a great option for his deficiencies.

He couldn't guard the pick and roll, easy looks for the Heat. Mostly because he doesn't fight through it and moves slowly like he's just handing it off to the help that may or may not come in time. If there's a way to get hung up on the screener, he'll find it. It's like slow-motion.

He can't guard anybody. Just like what Dallas figured out, if a player goes at Belineli, a score is happening. Beasley in this game just feasted on Marco.

Marco Belineli is a negative for the Spurs, big time. He will make it harder to win if he's in compe ive minutes.

I swear, if Marco Belineli plays rotation, compe ive minutes this series the Heat should absolutely win the series. He is a disaster out there. Even if he hits shots, he gives up more than he gets and puts the whole Spurs defense out of whack.

I hope that Pop keeps to a 3-man wing rotation plus Joseph or a dual PG backcourt of Parker/Mills-Joseph to and just keeps Marco on the bench where he belongs.

Bellineli plays bad D which results in a wide open Allen three. Pop calls a timeout and punishes the other guys by taking them off, and rewards Bellineli by keeping him on.

an empty roster spot would have been better, Buford should have cut him like SJax so that Pop couldn't play him tbh...

Make no mistake: if ray Allen had two shoes on, Marco will leave him.

If he has only one shoe, Marco will leave him.

If anyone is open, Marco will leave him. If there is a screen, Marco will give up and quit on the play.

If Marco has Wade one on one, he will get scored on.

If he switched into Lebron, he will get scored on.

You're right and it makes me sick.

At least play Corey and tell him to stick to his man and hustle.

    So infuriating.

    Why we lost:

    Danny Green 18 minutes
    Marco Bellineli 22 minutes 1-5 for 3 points, -7 in +/-.

I like Bellineli, but he shouldn't be getting this many minutes in the finals.
