The only guy it makes expendable is Daye, who was already expendable. If someone else were as consistent as Bonner from the arc, then he would be expendable. That said, no reason to pay Bonner much more than the minimum.

OP projecting his ing into unlikely scenarios.
baseless again. Spurs are in a position where they have several players interested in more money, and I dont think we can afford them all. With all the hype about A+ draft, one would assume that Anderson will play, otherwise I dont know how you can state this draft was a homerun... but maybe drafting someone who MAY contribute in several years is a homerun to some. If that is the case then question and any point after is moot.

you really think that daye has less upside than ayers?

We only needed that spacing when Ibaka was on the floor, not for 48 minutes, but I understand what you are saying. Bonner is valuable if he stays for minimum, I just believe that he's expendable if we want the open roster spot. When Diaw is not in the game, we can get the same effect going small ball.
True enough. We don't know what player, or players, that the Spurs might target with the MLE and the BAE. Bonner's roster spot is far from secure. I don't believe that the Spurs will sign him to a new contract until they've sampled the free agent market.

The brilliance of SpursTalk posters. Let's get rid of Duncan while were at it. I'm sure RC/Pop are contemplating this this very minute.

I never stated it was a homerun.

It's so not a homerun that it doesn't make anyone expendable that wasn't already expendable.

Anderson does many of the same things as Daye. He doesn't do the same things as Ayers. Also Daye's deal is only partially guaranteed. All that makes him the most expendable.

You can post some numbers in an attempt to prove the Spurs can't keep their free agents, but I doubt you will even try.

I already posted numbers - we are at 53 without mills/baynes/diaw/bonner/rookie; I believe the cap is 63, so roughly we are around 10 mil with those 4

    So what's the problem?

You know what how the cap works, right?

Only error is I didn't put a ' between were. This this and that that, I know using those combinations are too advanced for your vocabulary.

He doesn't b/c he is a moron. I am sure he doesn't even know what the Bird Rights are and what significance it play in teams resigning their own free agents.

None of those players will be signed with cap space.

Unless LeBron wants to sign for the capspace, the cap number means little to the Spurs this offseason. If they were looking to go that route, they likely would've traded out of the first round.

They will all be signed with various salary cap exceptions. In any realistic scenario, the final payroll for the Spurs will be above the salary cap and below the luxury tax threshold.

Full Bird. He's been with the Spurs for three seasons.

So, realistically we will have the same team as last year plus MLE around $5?

I honestly think Bonner is done, takes a job with the front office as a possible GM later down the line. Jeff needs to work on his timing, he's usually out of position or jumps to early for rebounds. Catching passes is something that he will have to improve on, maybe pop will let him hit that jumper a little more this year.
He looks like he is defficient in skills that are not acquired over a summer...or a lifetime. He's just uncoordinated, and I don't know if there's any fixing that. Stone hands. Etc. He is the only player I would like to see gone. Nothing personal, Jeff. You seem like a swell guy.

We need his spot for someone with a higher ceiling.

If you assume that Mills and Diaw return, then:

A PF that can space the floor and a SF to backup Leonard.

Yup. The spurs cannot realistically retain Diaw and add anybody notable with cap space, and that's not accounting for mills/baynes/Anderson. Considering how much is coming off next offseason, it really won't be an issue
