Diaw seems reasonable though, don't think he'll hold SA hostage and they won't let him. 3/18-20 sounds about right.
Who does he think he is, Jodie Meeks?

If they go over the cap, they can't use the MLE though, right?
The Spurs are over the cap. To go under the cap they would have to renounce Boris and Patty and all the ancient cap holds they have hanging around. I believe Horry's cap hold is even still on their books.

As DPG said, though, the real concern is staying under the luxury tax threshold with actual salaries.

I thought there was an actual reason for them to stay under the cap.... guess not?
you only would stay under the cap if you intend to use your cap space to sign somebody, which isn't a realistic possibility. if we resign Patty and Boris, and stay in the range between the cap and the tax line, we get the full MLE at our disposal (like we did last year after keeping tiago, cliente, bonner and proceeded to use the MLE on Marco and Ayres )...

if we exceed the tax or a certain threshold we get the mini mid-level like Miami used to get Ray Allen

I was under the (mistaken) impression that the MLE couldn't be used if the team was over the cap. With that in mind, keeping the holds is not a problem. They can actually be useful to pad a trade.

3 years 12 million is a great deal and fair as well. Wonder if the 3rd is a PO. If he stays put he could be in line for the starting PG when Parker retires, (he'd be 36 and having wrapped up his 17 season)

Awesome deal bringing a key player back into the fold. Spurs FO doing work to get that legit shot at a back to back. Love it!

Loving it, once we solidify a deal with Boris I will feel pretty great(er) about our chances next season for the repeat.

Deal for Spurs' Patty Mills, I'm told, is in $12 million range over three years. One of my heroes @Buck_SA first reported the agreement

That sounds about right. He would've gotten without the injury, but that's a fair deal for both sides given the cir stances.

    Really glad Patty is back!

Land really should practice saying that properly with Patty and Aron. The way he says it sounds like nails on a chalkboard to actual Aussies.

Money is good. But nba money can be crazy. An untried in College 18yr old draft pick from Australia will start on $4million a year. By comparison Mills a seasoned guard, who saved Spurs season when Parker injured, and delivered in the playoffs , was short changed on one view. But Patty is a decent man, money isn't all. That injury is minor . He got spurs up with it. The surgery won't affect his shooting but he should be waving that towel with his left hand. I still suspect Spurs leaked the story on his shoulder weeks ago to scare off compe ive offers.
