So no Melo to LA now. That's for damn sure. They had (without stretching Nash) 24M in cap space. They have 8M for Lin, 5M for Swaggy P & 9M for Hill. That's 22M. Even if they stretch Nash now, that only leaves 6-7M per year for Pau.

They are going to be bad until Kobe;s contract is off the books. No major FA wants to be a part of this mess, so in a way, Yes, the Lakers are in the same tier as those franchise.
