Bledsoe if he really wants a ring on a short deal to enhance his resume. We need someone athletic enough to stay in front of the ultra fast PG's out there, ala Westbrook, Ellis, that give the Spurs fits on defense.
Marion on what it would take to get him back to Dallas next season:
Maybe staying in Texas would suffice for now.Not too much. This is a great city, the fans here are amazing, even media guys are awesome. It’s a great environment here. Mark and Donnie have built an amazing franchise here. It’s like a family here. I’m going to weigh my options out and see what it’s going to take for me to get another championship ring. I would love to add to the ring I have. I’m going to retire here, regardless. I’m going to be a Dallas local here in the coming years. I’m going to make this my home.”

If Marion is not willing to sign for cheap, I conceivably see the Spurs standing pat and not using the MLE this year. This may be a better strategy because they will have more financial flexibility next year to make some moves. The Spurs shouldn't bend over backwards to get a free agent to come here. Either they want to win or they don't. Gasol made his choice and he is content with never winning another championship again. I really don't see how Marion helps us because he is not the same player anymore so I would rather us stand pat and not make anymore moves if they are not going to significantly help our team.
All this time I was thinking Wesley Mathews from Portland.... lol
Bledsoe would laugh at any team only offering him the mid-level exception.
Roger that ese

what is Scola's situation? ?
we have no room left..If the Bonner signing is true?..We have 16 on the roster now
Still under contract w Pacers.
Cotton is a training camp cut, and Baynes hasn't been signed yet, he's only had a qualifying offer tendered.
Baynes will be back..Nobody else wants him
I would ing love to take a flyer on Davis. He looked like a pretty promising young player in Toronto. Still, he'd likely be getting less minutes than he did in Memphis even, so it'll really take an amazing job from the coaching staff to develop the kid's talent. The guy rebounds, blocks shots, and shoots at a high percentage.
6'10", 25, athletic, unrestricted, and he's been an average or above average PER player all four years. You got me.
Especially since Ayers has been utter garbage....Im pretty sure Davis knows how to dunk in less than 5 tries
Philly is going after him soon. Brett Brown always liked him
Do us a solid Brett
I still believe that either Cotton will be retained or someone else of a similar ilk. We're going to need another small guard to replace Patty - at least temporarily.
Doubtful. They won't want to pay for the whole year, and since Patty won't likely be back until the RRT, they'll have to do without Cotton, or his like, for weeks anyway, with the cut date in January. If that's the case, why keep him, and THEN have to change everything again in January to cut him, and then adjust again when Patty returns. I think Beli and Cory will just pick up more minutes.
Like he doesn't have enough big men already.
Unfortunately I have to agree. Cotton looks like what he is... a rookie. I don't see Spurs validating his contract with a spot on the team. Still other free agents out there, and spots on the team are a premium unless they just outright cut Ayres and Daye (their current weakest links it seems)
I think both are possibilities. Cotton could easily be cut and sent to Austin. If Beli and Cory need another body then he can simply be called up from the local affiliate.
But lets imagine a situation where Patty wasn't hurt but sustained a significant injury in the early season. If we had a roster spot available we probably bring in an extra body to help out. Thats just been the Spurs modus operandi for a while.
I'm just saying I could see it go either way. Training camp could be interesting.
I didn't say it had to be Cotton. I just think hes getting the first shot at it.
I seriously doubt the Spurs add another PG unless someone really impresses, and so far none have.
As someone on here has already pointed out, the Spurs are quite content to go with playing point by committee IMHO.
They did it last year for a while and can do it again until Patty comes back by going with TP, Manu, Beli, and even SloMo depending on how quick he grasps the system.
Edit: I forgot to mention Cojo as the primary backup PG.

True and that shot is now for summer.
Yeah its going to be interesting to see how rest of team is filled out (with mindset that Ayres or Daye may be gone as well as Cotton). I still think Baynes comes back but after that...up in the air.
Either would be great. Guess that would mean Baynes odd guy out now which sucks.
