The only reason those games are even close is due to the rule changes, lack of chemistry, and guys don't really care. These same Euro teams get annihilated during the PRE SEASON against 3rd stringers lmfao.
    Lack of chemistry
    Say again??!?
we're talking about the same team that won the qualifying cup in 2007 a year earlier in las vegas. The same team that was planned after the 2006 debacle. The same team that had 1 month of pre Olympics training. We ain't talkin about the 2004/2006 team here, we are talking about a team that was constructed for 2008 and trained many times for it in the previous years plus a full training camp....... so, bull .

    rule changes
they favor the bigs and the shooters. A team with dwight/bosh/kobe/melo should thrive.
Also, the team was constructed over a long period (2 years) and the players oftenly met and trained under FIBA rules. They even declared they were familiar with the FIBA rules and that they practiced alot. Coach K really emphasised this...... again bull .

    Guys not caring
Look at the finals. Does it look to you like guys were not caring? Is it a secret that the cavs jumped from 45 wins to 60 in 2009 after lebron declared he understood the importance of defence after the 2008 Olympics. So unmotivated that kobe bryant came after an extremely long season when he was 30+. This on a team with crazy hype where no mistakes were permitted. Cmon son,............... bull .

You are hopefully trolling or borderline re ed. Equally probable on ST, I gave you the benefit of doubt.

Our HDI is the 3rd highest in the world. Housing is more affordable because real estate isn't such a prime commodity due to the country's size. And our Purchasing Power Parity (which adjust for cost of living) is higher than every European country aside from Norway and Luxembourg.

If you want to live in Europe for a new experience and all that, that's cool. But I don't think middle-class whites are any financially and socially better off in Europe than they are here (that also depends on the city/state you live in).
median & mean. A huge difference. One is much more telling than the other but the other is much more used. I wonder why ?

Be careful. Certain members up here cannot handle knowledge. It is a sad reality when a country gets so y because they suck at a sport to resort to calling other countries third-world..

However, I'll probably keep up with it more than I did prior to the WC.
tbh wont' happen unless you're talking about MLS/USMNT

I thought the same thing after the last world cup, but there's just too many ing games and they're all midday so it's hard to watch em if you work a 9-5.

Usuain Bolt would be the greatest NFL player of All Time huh?
He certainly possessed the physical tools necessary to be an elite player. If he had trained his entire life to play football I have no doubt he'd be a great player.

At the butthurt over not being dominant in international soccer. I'm a proud American, but anyone who has actually traveled to various parts of the world should know the only sport people play is Futbol. No one gives a about anything else tbh.

Personally, I love football and basketball as well as boxing but Im not going to sit there and deny the importance of soccer.
Who gives a what other parts of the world play? Soccer is a game of gots acting like gots.

I have no doubt Americans earn more. But they also work much more. My experience was you are out of work or over-worked.

We obviously won't agree but I find the average European citizen better to live amongst. Whether it be because of superior K-12 education, less focus on material belongings or less crime resulting in more trust. I want to live without a Car and so in the USA such places are scare & expensive/crime ridden. I want to live in a busy Downtown area so the quality of everyday encounters with strangers is a big factor. I think if I traveled throughout the USA I could find these remote areas.

It's the equivalent of stopping someone to make a fastbreak layup because no one is guarding the man with the ball.

Put a 7'1 freak with superb reflexes and athleticism and train him to be a goalie and it's over. If Lebron trained as a goalie, he would be very, very good.

    That is a BRAINWASHED POPULATION

I like the variety and dynamism of the United States. Most Euro countries are monochromatic blobs of sameness.

But, Europe is trying to turn that around with all the Somalis and Muslims they're importing. Good for them But they'll have a long way to go before they reach the US's cultural landscape.

There's a reason your parents left their European hole and chose to birth you in the United States.

Soccer has the greatest athletes in the world bottom line. They may not run the fastest. They may not be the strongest. They may not have the highest verticals. What footballers (as they are called around the world) have is the skill to kick a ball around a field for a long period of time. This skill set alone makes them the greatest athletes in the world. Oh, and they rank their wives (or wags) so there's that to.

Firstly LOL @ 2000 people samples and at self reported. You know all those poor detroit/oklahoma people were represented there.

very cute but monstrously skewed. It doesn't account :
    - taxation, especially federal tax
    - productivity per hour : americans work more per day and have much fewer vacation days than europeans. You can look it up if you want, all the figures show it. Please don't troll and take the EU figures which include the economic powerhouses of Poland, Estonia or Bulgaria.
    - a working non corrupt bureaucracy in the central-northern part of the continent. In the south things vary.
    - the benefits of a working social system which include but are not limited to a functional health care. How is that medicare working for you? I heard it is quite expensive tbh and not that efficient. Or how about safety? How do you compare New york to Paris? Miami to Barcelona? Berlin to Los Angeles? Chicago to Vienna? Detroit to Copenhagen?
    - the fact that the quality of life, human development index and all the other quality metrics out there put all these european cities much higher on their lists which means that the administration must be more efficient in spending the tax revenue resulting in indirect purchasing power. Of course those metrics should be used with their inequality adjusted variants as to represent a statstical reality closer to the median than to the mean.

The fact that these averages are close after not taking into account all of those things and while eu is affected more by the economic crisis... it leads to a sad conclusion imo.

If you think the average american lives better than the average german / austrian/ dutchman/ dane/ swede/ finn you are wrong tbh. I recommend visiting those countries to experience another reality. And if you think the average american compares to the average swiss/norwegian/luxembourgian you are out of your mind. Go there to experience first hand dudes selling you hamburgers at mcdonalds who drive a brand new audi like I saw in oslo or in zurich... these dudes are way way way ahead, not even a discussion.

I won't even go into cultural things and their implications in the quality of life discussion because I tried to keep this a pure economics argument, it would make this one a laugher.

Good that you prefer to live amongst Europeans, because they pack into small rooms like the Chinese and so being in close proximity is normal for them. I guess if you're metrosexual it suits you just fine.

    Truth...

Women's soccer is somewhat popular among women and we have the best women's soccer program in the world.... same would be true if men cared about men's soccer.
Because most of the countries around the world don't give a about women's soccer even more than U.S. to the men's soccer.

Imagine if the likes of LeBron and Kawhi grew up playing soccer with good coaching? The US would dominate, tbh.
Strong nigs don't go anywhere in the soccer. See the africans. They should be great defenders, but not good strikers. And LeBron shouldn't play more than half of the games without rolling into the ground with cramps. And mostly of the dumb egoccentric american nigs aren't tough minded enough to resist a lockerroom full of walking cancers.

What I was trying to hint at is Whites are better at soccer than Blacks.
Well, the best thing of soccer is the fact it doesn't give advantage to a specific colour skin or specif ethinical group. But having higher iq and playing as a team is the key for the modern soccer, as Germany proved, beating individual-skilled teams as Brazil and Argentine.

Germay was like the Spurs of the soccer in the world cup. They hadn't any fantastic talent or superstar like Messi, Neymar, Hazard, Robben, but they were a great team with good players, passing the ball all the time. No monkeyballers

What I don't get is you never see any other country saying "If our athletes trained to player 'American Sport X' all their lives we would dominate". Arrogant American opinion per par

When americans got their asses ed in any sport, they say "We don't give a about this sport". Or Hollywood makes ty movies depicting their antagonists as doping made athletes, like Ivan Drago in the Rocky 4. Were Florence Griffith-Joyner and Lance Armstrong soviets?

monkeyball = look at the african teams who display no soccer skillset....they always get exposed
The africans are more skilled than most of europeans, tbh. But they don't have a colletive mind.
