So. Let us get a view into Hamas, the Military Wing talks with the Political Wing.

1. What was being done about finding out finding out who was a part of the rogue group that kidnapped and killed the 3 teenagers. And then advertising this too the Israelis, justice is being pursued, since they surely knew the Israeli response would be massive. Anyone find anything?

2. An explanation from Hamas concerning their prior claim that concrete was essential for buildings required to house people. Anyone find a interview or a press release from the political wing?

3. Why the 72 hr truce was broken, as it would have allowed discussions to take place with input from the leaders living abroad. These discussions would surely include exactly what the goals were, since the military capabilities of Hamas were being severely eroded. And maybe a little discussion on the suffering of the population. Anyone have some press on this from the political wing living abroad.

Hamas was democratically elected in a Gaza. So we should have some insight into the above. So many more questions. We get terse, insightful, contradictory statements from Israel concerning their objectives, so how about the democratically elected Hamas.

And at the end you tried to cover yourself by saying "that was the point I was trying to make". Instead of being a (ad hominem oh noeeessss) you could have simply said "the tunnel network began mostly into Egypt for commercial reasons but in the past 10 years there has been a huge increase in tunnels going into Israel". Pgardn your second point I think is the most interesting to inquire on. I haven't heard any media ask Hamas reps about this but it's very clear a large amount of the building materials going into Gaza were being used to build this offensive tunnel system.

Edit: And the importance grows with the demands of the end of the blockade of Gaza. Why would Israel agree to ending a blockade when the "governmental" powers in Gaza use raw materials for terrorist operations? It's a huge stumbling block in this whole situation and I don't see Israel agreeing to it.

If Gaza wants to have any chance to flourish, they are going to have to allow observers access to everything in Gaza. No weapons allowed. Then Israel has to take yet another chance they won't have missiles lobbed on them, or kids with explosive backpacks entering buses full of tourists. I can't see any Israeli, except the extremists (like DD, Very_Limited, re ed Aussie), not wanting Gaza to flourish economically without a need for weapons. This entire area could be full of resorts and tourism. It's just maddening to look at the possible economic prospects and realize the extremists on both sides are in the drivers seat now.

The entire populations of both sides have shifted towards continuing conflict. Israel understands that their continuing presence and vigilance has produced generations of extremists. The democratically elected Hamas wants to fight to eternity.
