there's been plenty of Gino hate round these here places, tbh... surprised about the poll result so far, even though it's anecdotal...
^post-Manu fan talkin
I have a crush on the 2013-2014 Spurs... I'm actually thinking we might never see such a dominant team again. That includes every player. But what a treat when it's YOUR team delivering slaps all across the league.
If that was the ride into the sunset for Tim, Manu, etc... well, thanks
Manu rookie season: 2003
ElNono join date: 2007
post-manu fan confirmed...
but seriously, i agree. while i was a fan for all the rings, my sports fandom has grown more and more intense as time goes on, so on a personal level i probably enjoyed this win more than the others, although being in LA i got an extra satisfaction in 03 when we dethroned the lakers too
the dude can't even create his own shot yet... calm down..
This place opened in 2004, IIRC? I used to post at spursrep*rt before finding this cave... never looked back.
All the championships were amazing. I remember visiting my sister in Canada back in '03 when we were beating the Lakeshow. Had to go to a bar to catch the games.
But this team is special now. It's like we finally get to see what Pop put together after many years. Not only they curbstomped through teams, they did it playing gorgeous basketball.
I remember watching the first Summer League game a month ago, and it was ugly as![]()
Yeah... I'm not anticipating the Pop-Udoka transition to be a seamless one tbh![]()
It's essentially a toss-up, tbh..
Statistically(advanced metrics), they're nearly identical..
Leonard's defense throughout the playoffs was great, but Ginobili was the primary offensive initiator for most of the playoffs, including the crucial games vs. OKC and Dallas..you could argue that those attributes negate each other..
Ginobili = Leonard = Duncan > Splitter = Green = Diaw > Mills >> Parker >>> Belinelli
Shout out to Baynes, he gave us a lift in a couple of games too...
even before Spurs rang, I said I appreciated/loved this team more than 10 years ago, when in their prime. It's possible I took some of it for granted, even TD said he did, especially since I was in a different headspace then. Going through highs and lows with same core over many years is a great thing, plus to see the team evolve into something totally new and yet retro, while ringing, doesn't hurt either.
Last season was 10x more rewarding than 99, 03, 05 and 07 from a style/quality of basketball aspect overall, IMO. This team wasn't just one of the best, most dominant Spurs teams ever, but actually shattered playoffs and Finals records left and right... we're talking all-time stuff here...
I mean, I certainly loved the time when we had the best player in the game, from a bragging standpoint. Back then the complaint was the offense was "too one-dimensional"
But this team was just such a joy to watch, and dominant... After the letdown of the Championship DVD, I'm archiving all the games and pre/post game shows.
Offseason thread. Tbh.
i'd say it's more rewarding not just stylistically but also emotionally. I hated when the media called the Spurs boring so it's ironic that the current version is more exciting than any team I can recall, with the exception of Showtime Lakers perhaps.
I do think people will go back to some of the 00s stuff and appreciate it more, especially since Spurs seem more mainstream. I think the 05 Finals in particular is going to be put in its proper context as one of the best.
If you ever archive a ton of , maybe make it a torrent and everyone can share it? I'd love to have an HD collection, especially of past 3 years, I'm so cheap I'm still not sure I want to buy the ones off amazon, but I probably will.
Kawhi established himself as the best player on the team.
There's already some torrents out there if you look around... that's how I fetched all the pre-post game shows for the Finals... but the time to get them is now...
Damn, this is hard...
I voted Kawhi by a small margin.
cool. i'll check it out.
What have you done for me lately posts, tbh.

Just to remember you what we were talking before playing the Heat, tbh.
P/S: I should also remember you that this thread was started by a guy that got mad just 'cause he read somewhere that Manu had a better playoffs run than Kawhi, like if that was some incredible ridiculous thing to say, tbh.
Why does one side get butthurt if others think the other player did better?
I voted for Manu because the poll said for the playoffs. Since a lot of you are allergic to stats and common sense, put it like this.
We don't win the Dallas Series without Manu playing great. We win vs Blazers series if say, Kawhi's production decreased by half because the Blazers were not prepared for a real team. We don't win vs OKC without both playing well. We don't win the finals without both playing well.
Yes Kawhi was a beast in those last 3 games but it's not like Manu was in the finals. The spark he gave in game 1 and in game 5 were big. He dug us out of a 23-6 hole. You all can argue all you want tbh, my feelings won't be hurt if you say Kawhi was the better player because as I've said in my previous post it's so close between these 2, it really is.
Manu fans are incredibly delusional lmfao, Kawhi>>>Manu
People forgetting how he made that portland team quit (even with TP sitting), was key to winning in OKC, and was MVP in the finals. Kawhi's defensive impact was also huge, Manu not so much.
do not understand why both discuss who is better or worse without Manu at a good level we would not have come out champions without kawi at a good level we would not have been champions, this is a team, is a group game. not tennis.
2013 kawi manu and had no good end and we lost.
while you discuss Kawi Manu and admire.
Overall I say Manu. Kawhi disappears for games at a time, Manu seemed more consistent throughout.
I know dude. This site is 50% manu fans.
Before Kawhi joined, the spurs weren't playing for championships.![]()
Kawhi disappeared for like 4 games tops the entire playoffs. He is guarding durant, westbrook, lebron. Any offense KL gives us is bonus.
His job is to play defense. He pretty much does the same thing manu brings on offense and is the best perimeter defender in the league.
Now Manu disappeared the entire portland series and some other games. Kawhi is more consistent than Manu at this point.
