while "chance" isn't the best word to describe it, i would say yes, long story short. although you have to realize that nobody is claiming that one day things magically happened and BAM we had DNA from nowhere. as pgardn has said, DNA is most likely derived from RNA, a much simpler form of genetic material
    Cool!

thermodynamics is tough tbh... it was one of the most interesting and most challenging subjects i've encountered. ugh
Quantum Mechanics is tops on my list for tough.
I barely got the ideas just using energy levels in H atom.

    Thermo actually makes sense.

Notice how nobody here can answer this simple question....

Do you think the complexities of DNA just came about by chance?

    Amazing.
You've got me on ignore, fat ass.

Thought you were a scientist? The .
i have a degree in biochemistry, but am also in law school. patent law is an option... i mostly chose biochem to give me more flexibility in case i wanted to pursue pharm/med, while also leaving the door open for law. law has no class requirements, med/pharm do

i just edited my last post, explains it.

also i'm looking into patent law, which requires a science background and a separate patent bar

check creationism.org and their recommended book list! also why would u need a biology book, the Holy Bible explains it all. "god said, let there be" etc etc

I took a grad course in pchem last spring. I came to appreciate QM a lot more. I had a minor in math and even then some of the material required math beyond my understanding.

This is known. I'm speaking more in terms of stability. There are thousands of reactions that can occur with a basic hydroxyl group. I hate speaking teleologically but it's clear more complex biological systems preferred using DNA over RNA for this fact. , even tho DNA exists to be the more stable between the two it still encounters reactions that can be bad for it (leading to mutations of the genome).
Sure if the goal is keeping a cleaner sheet of information. Which is obviously important if that information, giving that specific environment, works well. But in rapidly changing environments it's important to produce as much variation as possible. Some of the RNA viruses are evidence that it can be quite handy.

in hindsight i should have just majored in political science like meow and graduated in 3 years, saving me some tuition and long nights

Yeah, I don't know how you guys do it. I ing hated school. Felt like a prison. I'd probably suicide in college. Did you get laid a lot? Cali has some fine ass women.

Im a bit further back. And I also had trouble with the math. I appreciate it but when all the trees are in the way of a deeper understanding, it's frustrating. My professor said if you really think you understand QM, you really don't. I will never forget that.

I think it is a perfectly reasonable question. I'm guessing scientist are working backwards to find the answer. Sort of breaking it down step by step.

The reason being they can't explain how something as complex as DNA just came about by chance. And I knew they couldn't.

Of course it's reasonable, but science is fine with having unknowns. That's the whole point. Religion starts out with an answer and tries to make the evidence fit. Science changes the hypothesis if the evidence doesn't support it.
