Tbh that was

1) while the mainstream media still regarded the UFC as savage (so rampage was just acting savage there, nothing unusual with that) or just didn't cover it. It's gotten a lot more news coverage since it's become more of a "real" sport.

2) before the tumblr/social justice warriors came out in full force. 2009 was a lonnggg time ago in internet years
