tahahahaha
Once he signs an offer sheet that is submitted by the other team, that becomes his contract. No adjustments to the length of the contract or the amount of the annual raises. Match or don't match, those are the only choices
Kawhi is going to get paid..If they are waiting till next year it would benefit both parties.
Instead of a max extension, he gets a max contract...Instead of 15 Million a year, he gets 20 million a year...
Really happy for Kawhi...

Keep thinking that. So far, he's a half MLE player![]()
He thought Manu would retire instead of re-signing for a bargain 2/$14m and delivering #5, tbh... so don't sweat it.
Pretty hard not to think that after his performance and another year older
he clearly had enough in the tank, tbh... even if he was playing poorly... i'm glad he came back...
Manu still have a few spanks in the tank, IMO...He along with Patty, Boris, Kawhi and Danny are really what makes the Spurs Motion offense the way it is.
he is not 28 and forces the issue every now and then.., but I thought he played super smart basketball last year. I expect the same from him this year..
yeah, obviously he's not prime gino anymore... i think he might come back for one more run next season barring any serious injury
Wouldn't mind the spurs paying him 3-6 if he really wants another year...His chemistry with Tiago, Belli, Patty, and Boris is worth Millions..
The foreign guys not Including Parker just love playing together...
It's true what they say in forbes....People who make enough money value Work environment more than anything else...
Manu is a great leader.
At this point in time his offense is just not worthy of the kind of money we are talking about here. If this means the Spurs lose him well then I guess the Spurs lose him.. Do people really think this is a guy you can build around to win more championships with? Right now he is a really good complementary player and that's it.
He's worth the max as long as he can deliver in the playoffs and finals. That's what really matters.
ST always trying to shortchange players. Still true to this day.![]()
Kawhi became a no-brainer max guy about three months after this thread last saw posts. However, it was nice to see a thread from before guys like Otto Porter and Allen Crabbe got max deals just for showing up. It's going to take years before we see the market fully settle down. These decent RFA guys are probably going to be the contracts that take longest to right themselves.
To me it has always seemed that the Spurs allow players to get that $ once (get close to what they would get outside) and then hope that said player gives them the hometown discount after that. So under that scenario I would be fine paying the KingSlayer his money if that is what he wants this contract and then hope/pray he follows the examples of the pillars that have gone before, and give the Spurs the hometown discount.
I think there's a good chance Kawhi signs for less than the super max only because of the state income tax factor.
Swing and a miss.![]()

Wow I forgot how many people were unwilling to pay Kawhi and just let him walk. He was an obvious max player then and I would have never guessed he'd become an MVP candidate and top 2-3 player in the league.
Just 5 pages
I'm pretty sure their are different threads too.![]()
They didn't give him max extension. And don't before you say anything, there are dozens of posts in this thread talking about the difference between an extension (which they didn't give) and a new contract (which I wanted them to do instead and which they did).
