i like baynes too. aryes should never play a minute with a healthy baynes
I like watching Baynes when Manu comes in you can tell he just brightens up like a big puppy seeing his owner come home. As soon as Manu comes in he looks straight at Baynes and you can tell he is saying "OK set the right Pick and Keep your hands up or the ball is going to hit your Face"..lol....

Baynes just hit a 3 pointer![]()
Bane for 3 point contest. imo.
Baynes and Cojo have both been huge in filling in for Splitter and Mills.
The foul montage was. Bane don't around.
Better put the league on notice, Spurs have found the ultimate Big man sharpshooter; when he's not breaking backs or tearing down the rim he's burning the nets at a blistering 100% accuracy.
the music with it too
some of y'all wanted to let him walk over the summer... I told you Splitter would need rest, and this guy, while less talented, was a valuable piece for just $2m...
why would we bid against ourselves. QO or let him walk
![]()
nose spite face argument there TBH
Who wanted to let him walk?
I dunno who exactly, but some peeps where adamant to let him go to Europe if he didn't take the QO money...
the ayres brigade were fans of the QO ultimatum that never happened
The majority of people who argued that baynes should be let go wanted the open roster spot to sign whoever. But i do think some people argued that he wasn't worth the minimum. I don't know it they were serious.
From Pop :
"It's of major importance, so Timmy doesn't have to get too many minutes," Popovich said. "I don't know about Tiago's situation. We're very confused by it, but Baynsie is saving us."
Hmmm we are all confused by Splitter's long and everlasting severe injuries, maybe he will catch Rose eventually ?
I was sort of in that camp. I was more annoyed about the dragging out of the process, though it may have been the Spurs wanting to bring him back on a cheap 2 year deal than on Baynes side.
He has been very solid of late. I've been critical of him (he still does foul a ton, 3 per game while playing half the minutes of the second highest Spur in that category, Leonard) My hope has been that he can develop into a cheap 15 mpg type of guy. He's been that so far. Bonner will still be needed in certain series but Baynes can provide some solid minutes against some playoff teams.
It was pretty clear the Spurs offered something more than the QO, and I didn't think he was going to get any more here or in Europe. I just wanted the drama to be over. He was allowed to test the market and didn't find much at all. Glad he is doing well.
As I suspected, these mysterious people aren't very identifiable or countable. I don't think we'll be able to find a whole lot of people that didn't want him back for the modest raise that he got. Most of us just didn't want to over-pay or have him signed to a two year deal that messed with next year's options. Baynes is making his modest raise look like a bargain. Hope it continues.
We don't know what or how much Baynes was or was not offered except the one he ultimately received. People were very fond of pretending that no news meant that nothing was happening. They would then fantasize an actual bargaining position and make judgments off of it. There are also many who think it makes good business sense to demand the lowball offer no matter what.
It became quite asinine after Baynes played very well in the Worlds and anyone who thought a raise was in order was defamed. Excommunicado. Go to my thread and I list them there.
He makes an impact, knows his role, good guy, the opponent feels his presence. He is no joke. Happy for him and I'm glad he's back. The process was a little annoying but so what.
3 point shot looked solid!
And some ers still think than got Ayres is better than him
