I guess it's true, everyone does it, it's a matter of if they get caught or not.

Can't compete in pro sports without PEDs, tbh..it's just a matter of:

    1. How well you hide it
    2. Whether the higher-ups are targeting you or not, for whatever reason(maybe you're finished as a top-level guy)
    3. Snitches
    4. How much you abuse it
    5. Your style of play

This is a solid point, but here's my question, why haven't guys like Lebron or Kobe been busted for it yet? Obviously, the powers to be dont want anyone to find out right?

The only reason boxers, football players, and MMA fighters get caught is theres a 3rd party that does the testing.

People have the silly perception that basketball players don't need to use PEDs, tbh..it's far less egregious than in power-reliant sports like fighting, Baseball and Football..

There's also the perception that you can't be on PEDs if you aren't completely ripped like Karl Malone or Lebron..most basketball players don't have impressive physiques, and the average basketball fan isn't knowledgeable enough about bodybuilding/PEDs to understand the potential advantages..

The NFL is much worse, though..I think everybody is aware that virtually every non-QB in the NFL takes PEDs, but it's just accepted because of the barbaric nature of the sport..even with all the "Adderall" results(which is an NFL synonym for PEDs), everybody still watches football and doesn't give a , myself included..

PED controversies are really stupid, though, especially in baseball..

It's a fairly even playing field, most of these guys know which one of their peers is taking ..it's just a matter of who the media and fans want to target, particularly in baseball..

Barry Bonds began taking steroids because he saw the hype that McGuire and Sosa were generating, the league was celebrating them..Bonds generated a ton of hype for their league, and now they won't let him in the HOF, ignoring that the majority of players in that era were on PEDs and it was a fairly even playing field..it's full of hypocrisy and stupidity..

I don't have any misconceptions about PED usage among professional athletes, and I hardly believe most knowledgable sports fan either. I think it's pretty much a given that these athletes pump their asses full of juice. In fact, I hope all the athletes on my favorite sports teams are shooting up.

There was one of those "NBA Open Court" specials on NBA TV where Steve Kerr opened up about how they used to take forms of pills to recover from injuries all the time, essentially PEDs IIRC(I'd have to see the clip again), it was viewed as acceptable back then..

I always hear NBA fans defending NBA players, tbh..Lebron is probably the only NBA player that has the stigma around him, and that's simply because of his body type/style IMO..

    Anti-Doping Policies in Major Organizations

Many sports associations are now involved in monitoring and testing players for banned PED use. Currently, the NBA, NFL, and MLB all have anti-doping programs.

The NBA began drug testing in 1983. They now screen for over 100 banned substances. Tests are limited to what can be found in a urine sample, which makes some drugs difficult to detect. Players can be tested up to six times a year, and twice during the off season. Since there is no investigative division of the NBA, any leads concerning drug use by athletes are taken very seriously, but are difficult to pursue.

The NBA does not test for HGH, however discussions in 2013 indicated a blood test for HGH may soon be added to the NBA anti-doping program.

The NFL began drug testing in 1987 and relies on urine samples to find PED users. Blood testing for HGH began in 2014. Tests are frequent, with 10 players selected at random from each team every week.

Here is a relevant question (and I really would like to know the answer): Do most of these "PEDs" actually enhance one's performance over baseline, or do they simply allow one to recover from injuries/pain/wear-and-tear more efficiently?

To me, that is an extremely important distinction. I would need to know the actual physiological mechanism of the substance, what it is literally doing to the athlete's body, in order to form an opinion on it.

I saw that episode too. Isaiah Thomas also talked about it, and even said that it was banned now because it's a PED.

Put it to you like this, a buddy of mine did steroids and could only at best lift 45 lb curls with each arm. During his cycle, he would comfortably curl with 100 lb curls and said he felt like he wants to do more but was warned not to so he doesnt hurt himself. The moment he got off, he could barely do 45 again. It's a monsterous game changer.

so what you're saying is that a certain nba player that relies on his monstrous strength and athleticism to finish at the rim, would see a huge drop off If he suddenly got off the cycle? Hmm

Sad to see Silva, who is arguably MMA's GOAT, to go down like this. He should've called it a career when he broke his leg in the Weidman fight.
