If the Spurs get to second or third seed, Kawhi will get it.

still 5 games man. The media is still not sure if Green or Bogut is more important to the team..if you ask me, I think Draymond is deserving too alongside kawhi but draymond might lose some votes because of Bogut and that could be it..Bogut is playing like 23mpg..No way he deserves that award.

Jordan will win it though and we could all call it a joke.
No doubt Jordan takes it. River's campaigning hard.

The 1st team will be Chris Paul and probably Tony Allen IMO..

Not sure who else is even in the discussion for the 2nd team..based on the metrics, Green is the 2nd best defender at SG behind Allen IIRC(and Green has been better this season IMO, since he has played a lot more minutes IIRC)..
IMO, Green will lose to Thompson, Butler or Conley...The former two is getting insane amount of hype. Butler off and numbers defensively are negative and his matxhups are scoring more points while guarded by butler.

I like Allen, but hasn't played that much minutes this year and have been benched numerous times for extended period of time in the 4th for Lee or carter...

Butler has been awful on D this year, hopefully he doesn't get it..

Thompson probably will, though, he's one of the most overrated defenders in the league, tbh..

Butler even said his D was no good this year. Seems to be a trade off - as they expend more energy scoring, their d falls away.

That's the concern with Kawhi becoming a #1 scoring option. I'd rather have all-world defense from him and be a #1b or #2 scoring option. Problem is, Parker hasn't been good enough to be the #1 he has been in the past.

Kawhi should play on both ends of the floor - ala LBJ.

Agree. He's been a stud. Spurs are one of the few teams that can harass the splash bros on D and force the dubs to make Barnes/Iggy be the guy on offense. That is the key to beating those guys.

That said, I'm Getting ready for the overreaction "Barnes is a beast"/ "trade for Barnes" threads when he posts "big" numbers on the Spurs, should of course the Spurs/Dubs match up in playoffs.

Obvious;ly KL is the best defender but Green has been the most consistent (in the 20 or so gamesI have watched). tim was real good on defense early but faded. KL has been hurt but when "on" you could argue he is DPOTY. Green has just been solid all year and although he does not get the credit James does is probably one of the best at the transition block on recent year's like a poor man's Micheal Cooper.

He also deserves more appreciation from Spurs fans... He played a load of games this year, he has been very consistent even though shooting up and down.

Him and Tim deserve a lot of praise to keep Spurs above water when Boris was sucking most part of the year, Tiago / Parker / Kawhi missed a lot of games

And when Danny green is your 2nd best perimeter defender your defense is in good shape.

Going to talk to some sports writers online..Probably won't do much, but Danny deserves it.

    if you have Facebook..

    Let's do a #dannyfordefensiveteam or something.
    Oh please no.
Danny really does deserve recognition, but your plan will clearly have the opposite effect.

LBJ doesn't D till the last 5 mins of a close game. It's reputation, because he is capable of it, like Kobe when he was getting voted to the 1st team defense.

Danny just has a knack for making the right play or being in the right places defensively. His instincts are just impeccable. I'd say he's the best but I've watched him the most so...yeah

Nowadays, ya..Lebron was an elite defender from 2009 to 2013, tbh..

His D has been horrible since 2014, though, only gives effort in key situations..

Kawhi will have more trouble giving the same energy on both sides every game, it's too difficult for today's players to play both ways, the game requires much more energy and ground to cover, but fortunately, he'll never have the same responsibility as somebody like Lebron, since the Spurs have the best system in the NBA..
