Winning out may not be easy. New Orleans game in NO with the Pelicans very likely needing to win to clinch a playoff spot. We can win (of course) but its no easy victory.
we can get the 2 seed in a 4 way tie too

Just give me Dallas and Memphis in the first two rounds tbh.
This would be ideal, but very unlikely.
#2 seed goes to the SW division winner. Spurs get that on a 3 way tie with Memphis and Rockets OR a better record than Memphis.
so if i understand correctly (good chance i dont) we dont really need memphis to lose again, a 3 or 4 way tie and we win the division.
BTW is there a scenario in which we get the 2 seed but not homecourt rd2?
Would rather the grizz lose so we dont have to rely on the Roxsfan winning their last 2 games.
Spurs are going to skull whoever they play whenever and wherever they play them so it doesn't really matter tbh
It's like the old Abbot and Costello bit around here.
So basically a three way tie between spurs grizz and rockets mean memphis gets the 2 seed (assuming clippers stay below the grizz). Thats what i thought too
yea spurs need the grizz to lose another game to get the 2nd seed
No. As has been explained about a billion times in this thread, the Spurs would get the 2nd seed in this case.
Put another way: thanks to Friday's win against Houston, the Spurs automatically win any 3-team tie that involves the Spurs and Houston (regardless of the third team).
Pop doesn't like winning streaks. Especially heading into the playoffs.
Maybe. But I'm sure he really likes heading into the playoffs as a #2 seed rather than #5 or #6. And I feel he's going to like that #2 seed a lot more than some vague supers ion about heading into the playoffs on a winning streak.
XD
i know but i cant find a written tiebreak rule anywhere
as grizz has tiebreaker over spurs and houston if all three teams win out
where does if its say a 3 way tie, tiebreaker goes to the team with best combined head to head record
In this very thread, on this very same page, in ElNono's post![]()

but this combined record thing isnt even on nba.com's page, is it?![]()

b. More Than Two Teams Tied
(1) Division leader wins tie from team not leading a division.
(2) Better winning percentage in all games among the tied teams.
Since all three teams would be tied, tiebreak #2 would be applied and we would win that.
No. A 3 way tie between spurs grizz and rockets means the Spurs get #2, due to the head to head amongst those 3 teams.
Thanksit took a while but i get it now
Don't worry. I had to have it explained to me like 10 times last night.
I read nba.com's rules but didnt click expand so i missed out on the other info xD
Let me make it easy for everyone.
As someone mentioned earlier, at this point, Spurs win 2nd seed in the following two scenarios.
1). Spurs win out and Memphis loses one game (regardless of what Houston or Clippers do)
2). Spurs win out and Houston wins out (regardless of what Memphis and Clippers do)
If Spurs win out, Memphis wins out, Clippers win out, and Houston loses a game, then Spurs would drop to the 5th seed. This would be because the SW division winner would be Memphis by virtue of better conference record (as their division records would be the same). Memphis would have the 2nd seed. Clippers would be 3rd seed as they have a better conference record as well. We would drop to 5.
So basically, either hope Memphis loses one more game OR Houston wins out, and we would get 2nd seed.

No, we make it up as we go along, of course: http://stats.nba.com/playoffpicture/![]()
