You probably helped make the tea and crumpetts in celebration of 2013s finals choke.

Right, ElNono, I was going to reply to Splits the same way. What I mean I guess is that I never remember seeing Manu benched in clutch time before by Pop. And, from what I've been seeing, I don't blame Pop one bit.
Right. I wouldn't read too much into it either. I think the cir stances in this game, due to matchups and the score, simply dictated that it made more sense to have Danny out there. I was agreeing with some other poster on that in a different thread last night.

So on the Boris interview in the lockerroom, what does he say at 3:39? Does he say " us"?

I don't know that I totally agree, ElNono. I think his decision might have been based more on that he didn't trust Manu not to screw it up. Or, to put it more clearly, that the chance that Manu would screw it up outweighed whatever good he is bringing right now (which we all recognize as greatly reduced, at least at the moment). I don't know this, of course. It was just how I perceived it. Manu ALWAYS finishes playoff games. Never not. Until last night.

We'll see going forward. I wouldn't be surprised either way. Manu himself mentioned not that long ago that he's fully aware of his limitations when it comes to closing out games (I translated the article a while back, you can probably look it up).

I think Pop will still play him if our offense stagnates, but that wasn't our problem last night, even though we missed a few shots at the end. We were playing with the lead all the way to the end, and I though defense had to be the focus. Kawhi and Danny gotta be there for that.

Actually, he went back in for the last play, so he did finish the playoff game.
I do agree with most posters that keeping him off the court was for the best.
Problem is that if we need Patty or Marco, Manu is still a better defender than TP.
Is there a post with stats about TP/Patty or TP/Marco backourt?

You are correct, AusEm, on a technicality. He went in at the end on the free throw shooting team.

Funnily enough, Duncan was left out (he actually didn't want to look while Kawhi was shooting his freebies, had his back to the court )

    .

Pop is going to play him. He has to. We have two playmaking guards and Pop has to play them or else run the offense through Boris all night. Manu is going to play. What else are we going to do?

It was just surprising to me that after Manu left the game after his usual 3rd-4th quarter stint (where he then rests and comes in to close in the last say 4 minutes) he didn't come back in until free throws in the last few seconds. It was a good call by Pop too. Let's see if Manu has a few games left in the tank.

I think the fact we actually extended the lead at that point (2:00 to go), up to 7, with that Bobo 3 pointer had a lot to do with that. Which is why I thought it was the right call. We didn't need any offensive execution, ball was moving and shots were falling.
But again, we'll see what happens going forward. I personally think this is a series where Danny defending CP3 has to take priority over offensive execution, unless our offense looks like crap.

No, no it wasn't. With Manu and Patty in there instead of Tony and Green we wouldn't have needed a once in a life-time mistake by Jordan to win the game.
