You're not the only one saying it. Alot of knowledgeable basketball people are saying Pop was outcoached. He certainly didn't have the fire he had last year. If we had this Pop last year we would have lost to the Mavs in the first round.
They could still win but I never thought Curry was great enough to lead a team to a chip. The history of the league is pretty much filled with legends winning les. Just in the last 16 years who has mostly won all the les?

Pop came into the season calmed, easy going and without his A game, he didn't do his best, he should have the most of the blame in how bad the spurs looked this season, pop not taking seariosly enough the season could not be forgiven, and in doing so he is not only waste this season for the spurs it will also hurt the spurs farther cause in my country ther's a saying "you leave a day behind, two days will leave you"...
I think all the intensity and yelling was not going to change all the wear and tear of the last 3 years.. This is a team with 2 of it's best players in the way twilight of their careers..

Without ideas? They brought back the same roster and game plan that won 62 games and a le the year before.. They didn't execute it as well..
Even an unfocused Spurs team would have won the Championship this year had Tiago and Tony been healthy. There, I said it. By the time the playoffs started Mills was just fine, Marco was good but the easy buckets that come from Tony's penetration and getting to the rime were gone. The Spurs had to rely on the outside shots falling more and that's when Danny Green choked it up. Icy Hot is right.
Golden State isn't toast yet but I started a whole thread in the NBA forum pretty much saying that the Grizzlies were a real threat to beating them in the second round. Back then, I was hoping the W's would ultimately win the series because I wanted fans to see how the Spurs could dismantle them. But unfortunately, as we all know, it wasn't meant to be for our guys.
Now, I'm pulling for Memphis to win. They play hard, don't chew on their mouthpieces, aren't flashy and don't get intimidated easily. They are the closest thing to what the Spurs stand for too. So....Go Grizz.
P.S.: I had no love for them when Lionel Hollins was their coach. That guy always came off as pompous to me.
Well, it's Pop's fault for playing guys that were noticeably hurting the team(Parker over Patty). Also, he did a piss poor job with the front office. Not using the MLE. Signing that French pig to one of the worst contracts in Spur history. Should have waited a year like all the knowledgeable posters on ST wanted. Instead we're stuck with a Smush Parker level player on an extremely bad contract.

"Shoulda, coulda, woulda" If Chris Paul would have just missed more shots, if Spurs had only made more shots, etc etc.... It's just the way life goes. Spurs lost and to a good team, but thats all in the past now, you just got to let it go and move on.

No, "we" didn't. Many continue to cling to Parker's and Splitter's injuries as the primary reason for the Spurs demise, but the fatigue from three straight deep runs was always going to get them.
I don't look at this as an opportunity lost, at least not to the same extent as '00, '04, '06 and '13.
A disappointing regular season, but that doesn't mean that the Spurs playoff exit was a predetermined outcome. They didn't give themselves a chance and let a legitimate chance fall by the wayside.
They didn't look or play like champs against the Mavs last year, but they managed to turn the corner.

There's no way we would have done it. Our team wasn't the same this year. The Clippers were the better team. That simple. I don't buy the "bad matchup" argument. If you can't win who you're matched up again, you don't deserve it.
Look at last year, we had one of the hardest roads to the Finals ever and we did it. We just didn't have what it took to win the championship this year even if we eked by the Clippers.
I agree on every single thing you just said which is rare in here nowadays.Match ups man, Dallas knows the Spurs well (Carlisle) and they played the last half of the year basically needing to win to make the playoffs and were ready. Game 7 though the Spurs showed them what they were and brought it, that started the RUN there IMO and from then on they went on a tear.
