(SPOILER ALERT) Another one along the mask line is "You're Next." It's alright, but, ultimately it's about $ so it's a little disappointing, but, the masks are frightening.yeah, just a creepy movie

Poltergeist and The Thing are both at the top of my list. I was a kid when I watched both of them. I had a house with a lot of trees around it with one outside the window. During storms I laid awake and watched that tree many times.
Another good one. Must see it twice though. It's a little varied.

The remake of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" from '78 has some moments, but, it's the romance of this film that I so enjoy. The relationship between Sutherland and Brooke Adams is amazing. The love between them especially him to her is just astounding and so tender. Then the marriage twixt Veronica Cartwright & the adorably existentialist Jeff Goldblum is equally enjoyable. That only the Cartwright girl "survives" is the boundless tragedy here.
Oh yeah...Burnt Offerings was creepy when I was little. There were some dream sequences that were pretty scarey and involved this chauffeur.

That one was creepy, like you said because of the camera angles and such. Also because it was based on some story. Don't even want to get a cabin house in the woods after that one.
And the scene with the pictures in the attic during the close over the creepy music. Glad someone else remembers it.
Fire in the sky is an underrated flick, and yes it is creepy.
Yeah, but, until that needle drops from the top and they around with his eye it's kind of a turn on.
But really what was so scary about it? Are we taking about the original or is there some other version you guys are watching? Because in the original whenever she was telling the guy " me, me!" I busted out laughing

Just last week I read a bio on Bette Davis and she stated it was an awful production with the fellow actors very unprofessional and Oliver Reed drunk most of the shoot.
And yet you can't see any of it on the film.
And a key to this film is the presence of Karen Black. She is solid, good substance, round & curvy. Reed too is substantial, even the kid is a puddger. It adds something to a film like this. The kid was big back then, well for a kid. He had a role in "Ben" the sequel to "Willard."
And there is trouble in this marriage, even before they get to the country She's unsatisfied with him as husband & lover. He's trying to climb over her to be the family head again, but, she's very assertive and keeps him down here & there.
gonna have to watch that one
Barbara Crampton plays the mother. She was in the original "Re-Animator." And in that one she's nude, beaver and all.
In "You're Next" she is still gorgeous some 30 years later.
Watch a movie called "meet the feebles". It will have the exact same effect, but in a totally different way.
I was in college and went to see this in a screening and the director came and answered questions about it. Didn't know that was going to be THAT Peter Jackson.

The original Poltergeist scared my ing pants off when I was a kid...especially since we had a pool AND a big tree outside my window.
