If the Spurs hadn't traded Splitter, I wouldn't care at all. I don't love the fact that it's LMA or bust when they would still have been a contender had they stood pat and used the MLE.

Part of the problem is the Kawhi extension, Danny re-sign and Splitter trade came really fast. Then nothing.

Yup, was thinking the same. The ball was rolling, it was like wow this is really happening. Then like meeting w/LA 2x, Raptors getting in on it, Suns making their trade killed what seemed like the momentum we perceived was there.

Are you talking 2013 or 2014? For both years, it wasn't just Manu, or even Manu and Tim. There was also waiting on Diaw and Mills to reup, Splitter flirting with Portland. Even though the Spurs are known for people really stable, they go through uncertainty with core players every year.

I'm talking about the summer of 2013, the last time Manu's contract was up for renewal (Tim's contract was up for renewal then too, IIRC).

Yeah I do understand being uneasy about the situation because we could be royally ed if LMA decides to go elsewhere and all the decent FA bigs are snatched up by other teams. Just feel like people are taking it way overboard by acting like Aldridge is doing some unthinkable by not having his decision in the first couple of days of FA. , we could have a decision by tomorrow night, and that would only be, what, 3 and a half days since the initial meeting? That's not absurd or a sign that he's drawing this process out as long as possible.

Yeah, Clippers are absolutely ed if they don't keep DJ. Pretty sure I saw that even if he walks, they essentially have no room to add anybody else. Could maybe use an exception or two, but aside from that it'd be all guys for the minimum.

We're ed for one year if DJ walks. We're ed for 4 or 5 years minimum if he stays. I'd rather sacrifice one season and have max cap space next summer than go all-in with a core that can't even make the WCF and a role player who's only getting the max because the center position is devoid of talent.
