How do you not get a pick back? How do you not even do the "pick swap in five years" thing. Spurs paying chess while Lakers paying jenga.
Trading away picks now, for a player who will make minimal difference, is not good for a franchise. Teams these days need to ac ulate picks and assets. The Lakers don't think that way. They aren't patient enough to build through the draft. And that will bite them for a long time.

ADDENDUM: When we signed Nick Young I thought we also got some other hot shot player named Swaggy P (look him up Dale, I wonder who he is?). me, I had no idea for about 72 hours it was the same gd man.
