I think Cleveland has similar money to the Spurs room exception. If Manu signs West would have to take minimum to come here. If not the Spurs will surely offer him the room exception they're hoping Manu takes.
So it's probably Manu or West but not both -- that's not good.

(But couldn't Manu take the vet minimum and leave West the Room?)

Should anyone even whisper the words..."Andrew Bynum"?
Bynum stopped caring about his career once the Lakers traded him. He's in his twenties and rich as , probably spends all day smoking weed and banging hookers.

How much can Cleveland offer him vs. the Spurs?

Also, how does Manu's decision impact his choice? (I assume he wants Manu on the team?)
I remember reading that Cleveland was only offering the minimum.

Manu's decision could potentially mean the difference of offering West the Room Exception (if not given to Manu) or the vet minimum (if given to Manu). I think it's a difference of roughly $1.2M.

    David West - C/PF
    Caron Butler - SF
    Louis Scola - PF

These are the 3 players I think will sign with the Spurs for the Min (West the Room exception). West and Scola are still chasing a ring and Butler has stated he wants to go with a contender.

Spurs will have to make do with older guys this year. They will be able to start to revamp their roster for the future next year when the cap goes up again.

The trick is getting a Guard to replace Beli. I still like Shved. Spurs could give the Knicks a 1st rounder for him in a Sign and Trade or by some other means. Perhaps he will come here on a two year deal, 2nd year player option contract. With the cap going up next year, the Spurs can give him a raise if he indeed does mesh with the Spurs System.

    Parker/Mills/Shved
    Green/Manu/Shved
    Leonard/Butler/KA
    LMA/Scola/West/Bonner
    Duncan/West/Bonner

IMO, this would be a solid lineup. Way better than last year.
    Diaw....

i'm a little worried about our front court depth, but if we can get West to come here I'll feel much better. They will be undersized a bit, but I think they will be able to manage.

Seeing Sonny Weems' name mentioned in other threads....intriguing.

Weems signed with CSKA about 12 hours ago. I'm really bummed the Spurs didn't give him a shot, but we'll never know.

I wish we could steal Delly to play backup PG, but there's surely no way Cleveland lets him go, and we can't afford him anyway. I'd be surprised if he gets less than 12/3.

After what he did in the playoffs, I wouldn't be surprised if this market paid Dellavadova something closer to what Cory Joseph got. I don't know which teams have money left, but the way things are going, I could see someone offering him 3/18.

Jameer Nelson says that he wants to go to a contender. But he also keeps saying that he wants big minutes. I think what he's really saying is that he believes that he's a starter, and he wants starter money on a top-tier team. I don't think "delusional" is one of the traits the Spurs are looking for - not to mention what he'll think he's worth.

The problem with any of the fire-sale shooters is always consistency. I guess having a veteran hit-or-miss guy is better than having a D-league call-up, but probably not much.

The room exception will go to Manu if he returns. I think West is waiting out the decision from Manu or he would have already signed for Cleveland's exception or a Spurs minimum offer.
Why, the Spurs own Manu's Bird rights and don't have to use the Room Exception on him. Did they renounce him or something to sign LMA. With Beli, Cojo, and Baynes departing as well, the Spurs have more wiggle room under the cap. It would be better served to lure someone like West.

I think the Spurs are waiting for the League to officially announce the cap. I was looking at the figures, and at 67 mil, the Spurs would probably have to renounce Manu and sign him to the Room exception to make room for LMA. IF it is at 69 mil, and Duncan taking a reported 6 mil dollar salary, the Spurs can resign him for the same amount without renouncing him and give the room exception to West.

Honestly, I think that is what the hold up is at this point. I think West is strongly considering the Spurs right now, otherwise he wouldn't be waiting and just sign with the Cavs. He really doesn't like Lebron, so it would be surprising if he does sign there.

The Spurs have to renounce Manu to fit Aldridge's deal in, which means all they'll have left is the room exception and minimum salary slots.

Forgot about him. If the Spurs could land Scola and West, it would really soften the blow of losing Splitter and Baynes.

Yeah, exactly when does the league announce the final cap figure? The 9th?

I'm not sure the Room Exception can be split, but even if it could their minimums would be more added together than the $2.8M so it wouldn't make much sense.

Jarrel Eddie is like 42% on the 3 point line ... he won the D-league 3 point contest running away.... he's played for the Austin Spurs... he knows the system and all he needs to do is make the 3 when he is open.

I don't think making an open 3 is any different in the NBA and the D-league.

On a side note, we could use Boris to eat some minutes off the bench to play PG. He used to play PG, of course he is slow for the position but his playmaking abilities are solid tbh he can be serviceable there

At the 67 mil cap level yes, but at 69mil no. The Spurs can just resign Manu and Duncan first. Then sign LMA. Then sign Green, Kawhi, West and whoever to their deals. As I said, I guess that is what the hold up is at this point as the league hasn't officially stated what the cap is for the 2015 season. Reports are that it might go up to 69mil+, if that is the case, I don't think the Spurs would have to renounce Manu, which they would have done so already. If the cap goes up to 69mil+, the Spurs would just have to cut Williams and renounce Ayres and Bonner. Resign West to the room, Scola and Bonner to the Vet min.

But this all hinges on what exactly the cap is going to be, which it is not official at this point.

Don't know. In the past, there is usually an official cap set at this point. Usually 2 to 3 days into FA. Don't know what the league is holding up for. Hopefully it's 69mil+, because it increases the Spurs chances of both landing West and retaining Manu.

Bonner should be back. First year I really want him here.

David West I hope like crazy we can get. His hunger alone will drive thru some slow patches in the season.

Jerrel Eddie is intriguing. He's modeling himself heavily on Danny Green, a great sign.

Nikola Milutinov is not ready but is smart, agile, and already well-coached. He's a good ad option.

I don't see any good PG options for the minimum. We need Manu back.

Those are the standout options to me and what I hope at this point to get.

because he sucks ? maybe ?

seriously tho it depends on his evolution, based on last year I don't see it but he is young and will improve but his drible is high, he is taller and slower than Boris. I'd feel much comfortable with Boris especially in POs

Well yeah, Diaw is needed in the playoffs but Kyle can run the point every know and then I the regular season, imo.
