I don't get how west fits. He's too small to play center and will only take away minutes from diaw who is IMO the better system fit.

Gonna be Boris/West off the bench... West is taking Baynes/Splitter minutes
Duncan is 40 years old will likely average 25MPG and sit out b2bs. Diaw is also going to be 34 years old. These guys will be managed accordingly. West helps with depth.
[–]Pacersunabiker3 points5 hours agoWho is the four, who takes no when he's on the floor?
West!
Your damn right.
Who is the man, who'll clear the lane for Tim Dun-can?
West!
Can ya dig it?
Who's the cat who won't flip when lesser 4's try to give him lip?
West!
Right on!
They say this cat West is a bad mother f....
Shutcho mouf!
I'm just talkin bout West.
Then we can dig it.
I should get off that reddit link now.
Other than helping the team's depth, David West won't put this transcendental and holy franchise to shame in the way Baynes and Tiago did whenever Blake Griffin or other players tried to break the rim with their dunks.
I get that he helps with depth but IMO you guys need another true center, who all is available?
West is plenty strong enough to hold his own against most of the centers in the league. Built like a tank tbqh.
Great signing, will add some toughness to this team.
Bonner has to go. It's been nice but now that we have all the spacing we need with the starters + 4, the space at the end of the bench is being wasted. the Spurs really need to start developing a young big man draft pick, even if it's in Austin. If they believe the drafted rookie has a future at the 5, then if they can bring him over "then do it" as Uncle Rico would say. That way LMA won't need to play the 5.
Of course, Texas has no state income taxes but just think how many future HOF players would come here if they didn't have to pay FEDERAL income taxes. It's possible and the Spurs could field an All Star team every year. Tell PATFO to contact me via http://www.projectfreedomusa.org/ where I am the state director for Texas. I'll meet with them to show how I can help make that happen.
It's possible the added advantage we'll have to being able to shoot the mid-range is that teams have forgotten how to defend it. And since no one else can do it the teams won't get enough practice time to acclimate themselves to it when the schedule has them playing us.
Here is what would be better than this offseason coup of talent: If that a/h David Stern were still Commish.![]()
If Stern were the commish he would have intervened I am sure he did it on a regular basis when it came to the spurs.
West and Diaw together will be a nightmare for starters much less guys coming off the bench.
Seis for West!!!![]()
I can hear the chants on his first game...
DA - VID - WEST
DA - VID - WEST
DA - VID - WEST
DA - VID - WEST
I could imagine the sweet passing going on when Manu, West and Diaw are in the lineup....
Good read about West and Indy. Apologies if already posted.

There is some comedy gold in there.

How the is this fair.
The Spurs are that model guy at the country club who looks like such a but then buys your grandma drinks while helping save 3 children from drowning and then goes onto the greens and hits an eagle while drinking a regular Arnold Palmer because drinking is against his beliefs, all the while pulling every single girl's phone number but still managing to take them out on a nice date instead of just ing them like we all know he could.

I'm still not sold.
They still lack a lot of size - Duncan and Aldridge are their biggest players but Duncan is older and LA operates away from the basket.
I know small ball is in, but I think if they run into a bigger team like the grizz, pelicans, or even the mavs, and have to face a team like the 76ers in the finals, their lack of size might be exploited.
TL;Dr - I'm full of and we're all screwed.
Teams are gonna have to sag way into the paint to contend with Diaw's playmaking and West's post game...oh, but then you have Patty Mills and Manu Ginobili just licking their chops on the perimeter.
I don't think the season is going to be the cakewalk that some people are predicting, but gottamn am I excited to see the dynamics of this team on the floor.
Good article...but I disagree on how many minutes DWest will play with the Spurs. I think it will be closer to 25+ mpg.
