Anyone spending their annual salary on a car is re ed.
    I agree.

When I bought my new Z28, it was 21% of my salary for that year.

It really depends. If your job is stable, you're single and have no other major commitments, and/or have a wad of cash saved, it could be fine.

Right now I'm looking at a new GTI or Fiesta ST and it either be around 30% of my salary. But my car is doing fine for now and gets 38mpg so it's hard to justify upgrading.

I personally rather travel. But I understand a car is used on a daily basis so it gives you whatever amount of satisfaction on a daily basis.

Same. I love driving but not to and from work where there is no room to let my car stretch it's legs. A new car would have super limited enjoyment in that case. Short of sitting in a lambo or GTR in traffic would be very enjoyable. I don't really have much time for recreational driving, so it's a purchase that probably won't be made until 3-4 years down the road (pardon the expression). I'm planning a few trips over the next couple of years, and that's definitely something I'd rather throw down cash for.

If you can't get laid with this donate your penis to science.

My first car (which I still drive) was financed. After that, I'd only buy a car if I had the cash. If your current car still runs, a new car is just a luxury. When it comes to luxury spending, if I have to finance it, I can't afford it

If you don't mind driving a used car, there will be a lot of cars in the Texas oil patch
area as many of the oil company's are laying off workers by the thousands...They all bought
new cars and houses so Auto trader and car lots should be loaded with bargains...

Out of the 4 cars you posted my choice is the AMG. The Merc has great power and handling along with
a good ride for the long highways the have in the bush. The resale value is very good for the AMG. I
love the Nissan but do they have ride adjustments settings for like track and street. Driving a go kart is
fun for around town but long trips not so much.......

    Thanks boys

m>s i work at a remote mine site (engineer) so money is good but the work roster is rough usually away 2 or 3 weeks at a time and back for one week. Good while your young and single .

Things are a bit inflated in Australia both in terms of salaries and cost of living especially imported cars.. 180k here is probably the equivalent of about 100-120k in the US.
