'The Jews*who were there gathered around him, saying, “How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Messiah, tell us plainly.”

25*Jesus answered,*“I did tell you,*but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me,26*but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.27*My sheep listen to my voice; I know them,*and they follow me.*28*I give them eternal life,*and they shall never perish;*no one will snatch them out of my hand.*29*My Father, who has given them to me,*is greater than all[c];*no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.*30*I and the Father are one.”'

Almost all major world religions acknowledge Jesus's role in history. Islam, Judaism, Christianity and even some secular people. Even those who despise him acknowledge him.

There is recorded evidence of his existence, his ministry, and his death. The Jews despise his teachings but they acknowledge him readily.

Most of all, the truth He brought to this world, the truth that is still feeding countless numbers of people, physically and spiritually, is a testament to his existence and his divine nature.

^ That is correct. There little to no evidence that Jesus the man existed. The best evidence that Christians point to are historians who wrote decades after his supposed death. If Jesus did exist and his doctrine was true, where he had the infinite most important message for man kind (it is infinitely the most important because our souls have an eternity afterlife), then is an incompetent god. And a incompetent god deserve no praise.

    "no shortage of evidence"

    okay.
Laugh all you want. Evidence is evidence even if its 3-4-5 times removed from origin. Don't get me wrong I don't believe in religion. I don't buy any of it...at least not in the context that most bible thumpers do and certainly not the accepted modern interpretations. But I'm not ignorant enough to act as if there's no evidence or that some of it doesn't corroborate on an elemental level. That doesn't mean its to be believed or that it somehow equates to facts.

"Everyone says the Bible is written by men, but the Bible says it was men who were directly inspired by God. But I didn't believe it for a minute. So I start reading and I start discovering and you have 66 books written by 40 different authors spread over three different continents, in three different languages, over a 2,000-year period. Most of the authors did not know each other, had no knowledge of each other, but yet I see consistently that they're not just answering each other's questions, they're finishing each other's sentences. It was mind-boggling, the deeper I got into it, and one day it hit me like a shot. I'm reading the living word of a living God. After that, I was just scratching the surface. Then, when you get even deeper into it, it's beyond comprehension.

"I cannot say it strongly enough. It is beyond impossible that it could've been written by men. I'm a writer, and even the writers that I know that I admire, I look at how we write, I know what our limitations are, and, like I said, it's so far beyond our comprehension."

It is easy to put the puzzle together when you have other material to copy over. It is like saying that star wars books must be real because they are written by different authors yet there is consistency in them.

Geez. Another thread? Don't you guys get tired of this?

So what if people don't believe in any sort of religion? That is their right. If your religion is the right one then they will have to answer when they die. If they are right, then no harm no foul.

And why can't people believe in something without you anti-religious people bashing them so much. Let's be honest, it's not like they are going to have any power to make changes. Yes, I know that politicians use them for their agendas but if it isn't religion then it will just turn around and be something else. What does it benefit you to be so condescending, insulting and rude?

In the end, both groups look like idiots and no changes have been made. You want to change someone's views? Then be an example. Telling them how stupid they are usually isn't the best way to get your point across.

The reason that idiot from Kentucky is getting so much press is because of other morons like 2ndPFGoat. If a complaint would have been filed and she would have just been jailed, yes she would have made a scene but what fuels it is the death threats and all the personal attacks on her. Those idiots that are doing that are making her a martyr and now she is somewhat of a legend for people that believe like she does.

The only good thing about this thread is that I see my homie Back2Basics back in this mother.

Don't be disingenuous by leaving out the Christians that are making her martyr for getting jailed.

Mike Huckabee and Ted Cruz showed up to fuel the story to pander to the religious nut voters.

I agree with that. She always got an interview on national television because of all the death threats and the insults she receives. She was able to have a bigger platform to shed her tears and talk about how she is being persecuted because people have decided to constantly attack her.

Do you really think that hers was the first religious rally? Do you think she would have gotten as much air time if it was just a one sided affair?

if the bigot had obeyed the law and done her job from the beginning, there'd be no story.

i asked to make sure because I don't see how it's relevant to the point. Why does it matter that the movie influenced the books?

I think he is saying that because they didn't have movies to watch in biblical times. They might have though. I wasn't there.

Right, I agree. At what point in history though has everyone obeyed the law? My point was that the story was made even bigger than it should have been. Nothing wrong with protesting for her to go to jail and to be impeached but everything else was unnecessary.

Are you saying that she wasn't attacked? I'm not saying she is right in any way but do you deny that she was?

so, outside of the Christian marketing dept and copywriters who wrote the Bible, assembled it from various sources (rejecting a lot of other sources), there's no non-Christian evidence.

btw, Christ's contemporaries didn't consider Him to be divine, God. He was just a very special, holy, spiritually advanced Jewish rabbi.

Christ as God was made up 40 years after His death to convince, sucker the primitives into becoming followers.

He was more like an apocalypticist. If he even existed at all. It was always about end times from the get go. I'd liken him to a very early times Harold Camping of sorts.

Then modern day Christianity morphed the doom and gloom perspective into a more financially digestible message. Where you'll not just be salvaged in the after life but rewarded in you current one as long as you "do good"..."pray"..."believe"..." he"...etc.

K, I still don't see how that's relevant. Acting has been around for a long time, on screen or not.
