Nah, if you are living life to the fullest then you will probably die before 75. I'm going to be doing a lot of risky shyt b/c I value fun experiences over life.
I would look at the ages of all my family members to see how old they are now and how old the members are when
they died. 75 in my family seems to be the number but some have lived into their 90's and be very active.

If you still want to spend it all, you might want to save your family some grief by putting some money aside
for your burial. If you are unlucky don't die and you have to go to a nursing home the more money you can spend
the better care you get. We had to put a relative in a nursing home last year and some look like the ward
from the movie -one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

if you are not self employed you may loose your job once you get into your 50's because of your
age. They say that can't happen but don't believe it. Where will you get your money to live if you
    have spent it all?

All of this is moot if Obama Care's death panels decide you cost to much to stay alive.....( --here comes Chump!)

Listen, if I live a good 55 years I really don't care if I live 20 more relatively uneventful years where my quality of life will definitely be worse. I also am in a field where I can get a career that's relatively stress free but will allow me to make a modest middle income thus I've no wars to wage. Not to mention I'm a pretty active person thus the retirement lifestyle doesn't suit me. As someone who was in med school, I do understand something about empathy but investing my own time/money on myself has nothing to do w/ that since I've probably volunteered more of my time than most folks will in their lifetime. If anything insisting that YOUR genes be passed onto the next generation is what I call "me, me, me, I, I, I" & don't you dare argue otherwise b/c humans are innately selfish when it comes to passing on their genes.

Except there is no guarantee you will make it retirement age nor have a functioning body. I for one don't care much for retirement related activities since I'm more of an active/outdoor-ish person which is why I want to take full advantage of my fully functioning body. Playing golf w/ a bad back, sitting in front of a slot machine, fishing & needing Viagra for an erection aren't exactly my cup of tea.

Did I not make it clear that there is no guarantee that you might be bed ridden by the time you retire? Folks acting like everything is going to remain the same as it is now by the time they are 65. As someone who is in the medical field I'll advice you to think twice if you think everything is going to be gravy.
If you're in the medical field then you should understand that it's unlikely that you will be bedridden unless you lived a very hard life or have a serious medical condition. I'd rather set aside some chips on the fairly good chance that I'll be able to relax the last 20-30 years of my life.

Save money but use it for vacation not for future medical expenses. You won't be able to enjoy life past retirement age as much as you could in you 20s, 30s, 40s b/c your body won't cooperate or you could be dead/incapacitated from cancer, heart attack, stroke, car accident...etc.

I don't care whatsoever about passing on my genes so I'm going to spend all my income on Me, Myself & I. If you don't have to look forward to grandkids, what is the point of living a long boring life anyways? Just find a low-stress career that pays a decent middle income wage, scout for a traveling companion who isn't interested in having kids then explore the world while sipping pina colada & laughing at degenerates living a scripted life.

**Disclaimer: I'm an atheist thus I don't believe in afterlife so earth is heaven/ to me but I choose to treat it like heaven.**
You are a fine example of an irresponsible individual, who will, by intent, make my grandchildren support your sorry ass.

I'm probably not going to make it to 65....I'm going to be one of those folks who dies relatively young rock climbing or hang gliding.

FYI: I'm actually pretty disciplined & financially responsible nor do I care about being the life of the party since I'm an introvert & don't drink. All I care about is enjoying nature but not on some "Into the Wild" shyt since mother nature isn't too kind.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,

No... you're most likely going to be the guy that becomes a burden to his kids... no pension... no insurance. Its called saving for a rainy day.

If you want to take that gamble then go ahead but there is no guarantee in life so I've chosen to enjoy it in the moment. By the time you're retirement age you are probably suffering from arthritis, bad vision, bad back, bad hip, erectile dysfunction, hemorrhoid, saggy skin, loss of muscle mass & you might have had cancer, stroke, a heart attack, high blood pressure, diabetes, Alzheimer...etc. I've a clean bill of healthy right now & I've the money to spend so why not take advantage of it.

You are a fine example of an irresponsible individual, who will, by intent, make my grandchildren support your sorry ass.
I'll rather die in the wilderness than live off welfare.

And I am not one of those convention guardians. I also resent the old style of traditional life - getting married and living a lukewarm life like the old generation etc... but it doesn't mean you have to try crazy s just to BE different tbh. Just live the life that you think is best for you, both in the short term and in the long term. Celibacy is my choice, I don't smoke and I gave up alcohol completely about 4yrs ago. My life may be void of joy in your eyes, but it is a choice of thorough meditation and scientific assessment, rather than one of intuition or impulse driven by the pure desire for joy or fun, tbh.
I already practice everything you stated & I have no desire for impulse driven joy such as alcohol/drug/orgies. All I want is the freedom to enjoy nature, go on adventures & travel while I'm a 100% physically/mentally able to do so.

Saving for retirement, having a family, and enjoying life aren't mutually exclusive.

If you can't save for retirement AND enjoy life, maybe you aren't making enough money?

But, if you want to let the IRS rape your paycheck, i.e. being single, not having kids, not having a 401k, then by all means, enjoy your life.
I already took that into consideration which is why I'm okay w/ not making a penny over 75K.

I want to travel, go to ball games, and bang hot bishes when I'm retired. You need cash to do that.
Who is to say you will be mentally/physically about to do so or even alive by the time you're retirement age?

I have ZERO interest in being an old fart w/ saggy skin. Humans innately want to live as long as possible but once you figure that out it's not that hard to override it. We exist to simply pass on our genes & we are suppose to make decisions in the best interest of our off springs while everything else is a sideshow which is why people change once they have kids. I have chosen not to pass on my genes & spend all my time/resources on Me, Myself & I b/c I'm an atheist who doesn't believe in afterlife. I'll let the suckers slave for the survival of their genes & worry about the future while I live life in the moment & enjoy it to the fullest.

Remember that you're also taking a gamble at living your twilight years poorly. Maybe yyou're gonna be in bad health, but I've seen many living their 50s and 60s fairly well. After that, might as well relax in comfort.

But hey, that's your choice, perhaps it lacks forethought but I can't call ya an idiot for it. You're simply stacking hour chips somewhere else.

Again, if I'm making below 75K then I fall in the same tax bracket as someone making 40k. I only really need about 2500 a month (30k per year) to live well in SoCal since I've a low maintenance lifestyle but I'll be taking home 50K after taxes meaning I'll have 20k as expendable income for vacation & what not. I could just max out my Roth (5k) to decrease my taxable income since it's money I won't need & cash out if I'll live to be 60 for one final epic journey to never return. I'll be paying into medicare/social security but everyone currently is paying for the baby-boomers & there is no guarantee that the future generation will ever benefit from it.

I'm not one of those folks who gets joy out of having excess money so Uncle Sam can take all it wants as long as I get my 50k at the end of the year. The money I won't have is the money I won't need.

LoL why do I care how long I work if I like my job & am enjoying my life. It's not like I'm planning on flipping burgers & never taking a vacation. Shyt, bring on those paid vacations my way. It's those folks who have insurmountable student loan, mortgage, kids to raise & put through college while rarely taking a vacation that are suckers for those big corps.

2 week vacation, weekends plus holidays is about 120 days off. So that means I'm off 33% a year while I'm young & healthy. Visiting museums in Europe & fishing isn't my thing, I'll leave that to the old geezers. Not to mention I'm the type of person that doesn't need more than a 2 wk vacation at a time b/c I'm a workholics & happen to like my career. Can't imagine being retired & living like a lazy bum.
