Nice to meet someone who accepts scientific pedagogy.
I care for a sleazy gold digger? I really don't care about sex unless I'm horny & by the time I'm 70 that might be a rarity.

Avante with the goods and the black horn rims.
To retire nicely.....

That's pretty beta of you
So, when you have no money saved up, are you going to be one of the WalMart greeters later in life?
IRS is still cheaper than kids tbh
So we have a guy here thinking being old, alone and broke is the way to go, hahaha!!!!!!!!
Poor little fella.
As I sit here thinking about a bigger HD tv for the bedroom. Already thinking about XMAS gifts for everybody, oh yeah this guy won't have anyone to buy for. MERRY XMAS!!!!!!!!
You should check the personals on Craig's List.
Anyone under 40 here besides op? I'm mid 30 and I agree with op for the most part.
Retirement is a historical rarity. The notion that able bodied people should plan on leaving the workforce is bad. Retirement kills and deadens people. You need to stay engaged or you suffer dementia and start posting like glen hob. Planning on shifting to part time work is fine. But it's just unrealistic to plan for a twenty year retirement.
Second op can live well past 100 if he wants. Basically anyone who lives past 2070 can live forever in some form. You might literally have to fight the government to die!
Third the entire economy is going to transform in ops lifetime. The cost of natural physical good will go up,(sell me coffee bro) wages will go down, but computer intelligence will rapidly change our economy driving down the cost of manufacturing and design to nearly zero.
Think, right now the economy is based on rich westerners buying things. Wages are going down. When wages go to zero, what is the economy? Are we going to establish make work, or universal minimum income? There's just no way we're going need millions of humans working past 2040.
There are way too many variables to suggest that saving is the best option. There is a large possibility that the rich get better technology faster, but unless there are artificial limit,. Almost all modern technologies are not limited by traditional scarce goods. The computer in my hand is the same as the richest 1%. As the pace of technology increases the rich advantage will become nil.
Id say first, stay healthy. Don't have kids unless you want to. Kids don't make you happier. It's literally a bad decision. Even if you are a good parent, it's rare that a good parent is also not a good single person.
Society is changing. Families aren't welcome in cities. As we start to live longer the model of kids caring for elders will become warped. As a society we should also be well able to care for our old people without pulling children of their prime earning work years. It's just bad policy.
Finally, by all accounts op is narcissistic asshole but who cares? Stop imposing your 20th century talking points
what the are you talking about
Which part? It's true..... Kids don't make you happier. In fact they can make you very unhappier. Being even a boring single person is better than a kid. Yes, having kids results in some amazing moments. But the amount of work you do in between those moments totally screws the equation.
We don't need anyone to have kids. Human population needs to decrease radically over the next 100yr. We don't work on the farm so you don't need kids to work the harvest.
We're pretty much farming kids out to the government for 1/2 the time anyway. Why have kids if the public schools are so awful and you won't control TV or internet they watch.
I give ZERO s about air heads built like a barbie doll. I'm attracted to "the girl next door" type nerdy girls who have their shyt together.
Material possession means nothing to me, if I don't need it then I don't buy it. In any case, I'll have lived my life to the fullest while my body/mind is functioning at close to 100% capacity & be dead before I'm "old, alone and broke".......good luck collecting your pension while it lasts & vacationing w/ a walker.
Compound interest is stupid? Oh really?
I'm retiring with a tiny home. No need for an expensive large home.
and free to travel.
It has all I need.

Idiot, I NEVER said saving for retirement using 401k/Roth accounts is a stupid way of saving. My point is that I could drop dead any day & even if I make it to retirement age I won't be as physically/mentally fit as I'll be BEFORE retirement age to enjoy life to the fullest. You guys are investing in a basket of eggs & are counting your chicks before they hatch meanwhile I went to the store & bought chicken breasts. You guys would get more bang for your buck but who knows if the eggs will hatch or if the chicks will make it to be chickens not to mention it's not a guarantee you will be able to consume chicken or will be alive to enjoy your chicken breasts by the time they are ready.

The older you get the dumber you get. It's not because you forget , it's that you realize how much you don't know. Because of that you'll probably need a lot of money to overcome the overwhelmingly stupid you did for the first 35 years of your life. You'll get to retirement age and will have a double mortgage, your kids and grand kids will be living with you and medications for the conditions you helped foster with ty choices will be outrageous in price, and those dumb ass kids of yours won't lift a finger to help. They're waiting for you to die so they can ingest your morphine.
Stupid ass ing fad tiny homes. A tiny fire and you're a tiny ing marshmallow.
literally poison. We actually need the population of western educated people to INCREASE. It's the populations of Africa and Asia that need to decrease. Preaching to a board of Americans and Europeans to stop having kids is wrong and doesn't solve anything. People are literally making the case right now for increased violent third world immigration because we aren't having enough kids. We should be having more, them less.
There is a need for increased birth rate b/c the baby-boomer & older gen Xs outnumber the millennials thus there won't enough workers to fund their LAVISH pensions/medicare/social security. They are going to suck it dry & there won't be anything left when the millennials reach retirement age. I'm going to spend my money before inflation enormously decreases the buying power of my retirement account that will be caused by the shortage of labor. There won't be medicare to cover your health expenses, pensions to live off & social security to subsidize your cost of living. Japan is experiencing this issue as we speak & the bubble will burst in the next 10yrs when all the baby-boomer/older gen X will have retired. They have socialized medicine & their income gap isn't as large as here in the US so they have been able to keep a lid on it but that will change pretty soon.
Germany won't have this issue b/c they get taxed at a very high level & their pension programs are managed strictly thus there is a lot of grain stored in the barn unlike in the US where 1% can get taxed at the same rates as someone making minimum wage & a large ins ution such as the University of California only discovered 10 yrs ago that nobody was funding the pension program. Let's not forget a bunch of pension fund being wiped out by the recession thus they have to pull money from the millennials account to cover the baby-boomers/gen Xs.
