Let's look at where I went wrong, what did we learn?
I had no intentions of playing this game as I mentioned above, there was something wrong with Atlanta - 3.5. It didn't feel right.
What was wrong was the fact Atlanta had barely been wiinning their games, now on the road in a short week vs a team in desperation mode. A must win situation for NO, a 5-1 record no big deal for the Falcons. I knew all this, that's why I was going to pass. Then I read.,...Marcus Colston inactive. As we know he is Brees go to guy, that changed my mind. Yep, I had too much info, I ignored the fundamentals, yep....STOO-PEED!
Won't happen again.
Marcus Colston playing or not was completely irrelevant and shouldn't have had any bearing on any decision to bet this game or not. Falcons should have been up at halftime. At least give them a chance to cover by the end of the game. But you have to give credit to New Orleans for the halftime adjustments that seemed to keep the Atlanta offense in check until garbage time.
Atlanta's pass defense is trash though. Couldn't really get much pressure on Brees and ended up with receivers (mainly that TE) wide open.
You're absolutely right, Thursday night games are crap shoots. The one time I do pick up the action, I lose
