Also, I think we are discussing two different things. I know how bird rights work and their financial situation - when I say they can replace him, I'm referring strictly to quality of player/talent. But I think GS will have a lot of cap space next year with the jump anyways. They have all their main guys locked up for at least next year and a bunch of FA (lower end) next year.

So if they wanted to shuffle up they could easily do so. I think they are only at 58M committed next year with Curry/Klay/Dray/Bogut/Iggy/Livingston/Thompson on the books
They have to pay Ezeli too & he's going to get at least 10mill per (Marc Cuban) as long as he stay healthy. They are actually committed 81 mill next year (you forgot to account for Draymond's new contract) & the cap space is supposed to be 89 mill next season so that would leave them w/ 8 mill to spend in free agency for an Ezeli &/or Barnes replacement along w/ end of the bench guys. If they don't renounce Marreese Speights then their cap space is going to shrink even more.

No one really hates curry...but green gets a lot of hate because of how he's rated in the media. He's a top 25 player in the league..I don't see how that's not obvious
Whaaat were you here last year? We had the epic Curry is a wannabe Kobe thread ...plus many Spur complaints about his celebrations

He's like Admiral: Face-up & drive, run the floor, PnRs or shoot a jumper. Even PRIME KG had a Dream Shake move in the post.

The Robinson/KG comparisons make sense on the surface(offensively..he's nowhere near those 2 defensively, yet), but those 2 s played a ton of minutes/games in their primes..

Davis has already missed 47 games in 3 seasons, it's the biggest knock on him, so far IMO..

If it was easy as Deeps claims why not offer the max he can get in RFA and be done with it? They are hoping they can get him at $70 mill instead of$84 makes sense for both sides if he wants to stay ...

Davis is being made out to be some third string Forward.

He's 1-14 on field goals. Absolutely, Shut down.

Curry has 40 points and with Golden State's even more advance and elaborate offense, he's taken all of Klay Thompson's attempts.

The more attempts Curry gets at the basket, the more exposed the opponents defense looks.

You are right, I didn't put Dray's number in there. Even with that, they are at roughly 76M with a potential 90M cap. They have plenty of opportunity to shake things up if they want to - while it's not a guarantee, the potential is there. If they don't bring back Ezeli and know they want to replace Barnes, they will have plenty of money.

However, even with 8M, I believe they can talent-wise replace Barnes. That would basically be a high end MLE contract which for Barnes actual on court production is probably a fair talent replacement IMO. But I do think the end up keeping Ezeli and Barnes spending their money that way. I was just speaking in a bubble about his talent level.

Yup. Not nearly as good as the Admiral yet either. But it's only the first game so we'll see,.

If they repeat and Barnes is pivotal to the run it makes sense to overpay ... still think its high to give him max but i would do itvif it was my best chance to 3peat. If they lose i would consider other options that are more cost effective.

Demarre Carroll got 13 mill per & he isn't much better than Barnes. Teams are overpaying for talent so I'm not sure they could get a starting wingman who can check PFs for 8mill.

Danny Green AGREED to take a pay-cut (10 mill) meanwhile Barnes is DEMANDING a max. The Cavs gave Shum 40mill & Tristan 80 mill per b/c they are capped out & couldn't trade Sideshow Bob; the Warriors are in the same situation w/ Ezeli/Barnes & Bogut's contract.

I get that. So because of that they should overpay on money and years? Right now they have him this year and can decide at seasons end if he is yruly worth 70 million either by offering the max he can get by another squad or letting him walk.

They OBVIOUSLY wanted to keep him & didn't want to risk competing w/ a ridiculous offer sheets. They were hoping to sign him for 16 mill per or less but it looks like his agent believes that he can get more than what Tobias Harris got from Orlando. Barnes can test the market while knowing damn well the 16 mill per will always be on the table if he wants to resign w/ the Warriors.

I'm assuming Barnes thinks he's as good as Klay if not better & wants the same type of contract.
