I just found out Tomorrow's Spurs Game got Delisted from NBAtv and replaced by the Warriors Game, as a out of territory spurs fan i am sad.
More than his passivity tonight, I thought he was nonchalant. Big difference. For instance, there was a sequence late in the game when he threw a lazy pass that was almost picked from but for McCallum's hustle. Two or three passes later went to Kyle and he bobbled it in one hand before corralling it. Empty trip.

RELEASE THE KRAKEN!
None of the Kings were doing much last year, can't blame him for the team he played for and his play did improve once Karl took over there. And you can't make a full judgment on a player just by looking at the box scores. I stress, he had GLIMPSES of solid play, I never said he was always successful. But at the end of the day, he's not going to be more than a third string PG for the Spurs. I thought he could grow into more and not be much of a step down from CoJo, if at all, but he doesn't seem to be a fit with this team this year.
Oh I missed that. Pop will straighten that up. As it is Simmons is looking much better than him, so maybe he felt dejected, and had mentally checked out of the game. Things like that show a lack of focus for sure. His mind was on something else.
I'm done with your scrubby ass. Don't quote me again. Srs.
LOL thinking that Spurs losing and Warriros winning close games has any type of coincidence in it... LOL not seeing Spurs had twice as soft and weak of schedule has the Dabs... LOL homer at is hardest...
Agree with all that but I do think he's a step slower than what I saw from him last year. He doesn't look like he's in as good a shape. I'd like for him to play more games in Austin.
Well done sir....
Job very well done.
D'angelo Russell with the most unimpactful 24/6/6 maybe ever.
LOL, ESPN has pretty much interviewed every Warrior player on Sportscenter. I think their janitor is next.
Agree with you that he didn't impress, but I guess I am more prone to giving new and younger guys a chance.
He doesn't have a high ceiling, but he's a third string PG who has barely played with our guys. He should be good enough for that.
If we compare him with Cojo we are going to be disappointed, but Cojo looked really marginal as a player his first 2 years and even his 3rd wasn't anything spectacular.
When Ray plays, the offense has to go through Kawhi and LMA as it did tonight. He was exposed on D more on account of switches with Danny and he was guarding guys he had no business guarding. He still put in the effort though.
I would say he was nothing special, but should be fine for a 3rd string PG. He was good enough to net us a win here. There is not much to like, but also not much to hate. He was ok I would say.
I thought he played with a "hey, my position is secure on this team so I can take a series (or game!) off from time to time. No biggie." I hope I am wrong. I know that you and I have chatted since summer league about Kyle in a very positive way, but it will not take too many games like this to get me down on him. The contrast in effort levels between him and Simmons is starting to really cause me some concern. I understand they play completely different styles and roles, but Kyle's effort is starting to look "wanting" to me.
I agree, it could be a good idea, specially to raise his confidence in the offense.
It seems to me he's athletic but not quick, if you get my meaning. He can jump and run, but he doesn't have the famous quick first step. His BBIQ might be limited too.
He's a guy that will need to be really familiar with the offense and play off others. At least he can shoot the 3 and that helps spacing more than Cojo. He should be able to play off others better I hope.
Anderson doesn't check out of the game, but he checks out of plays. I've talked about it before. I don't know if he doesn't know what he's supposed to be doing, or if it is really a mental lapse. But there are times he just becomes a spectator on the floor.
The starters make their share of lazy, sloppy passes. Especially that first pass after a defensive board. (Watch Boban - he's very careful with that pass.) But I've watched Anderson on offense, standing out beyond the 3P line, watching the action like it's on TV. Many times watching at home I've backed it up to ask, "What the was he doing on that play?"
Hopefully it's just because he's young.
thank you , it feels good when people appreciate my art. Hard work pays off.

I am not sure, since I didn't pay too much attention at the end. I watch the games on League Pass, and this one is not yet available due to black outs so I was streaming it in my laptop and a good chunk of the time he played I saw it tiny, and at the end, I was not really paying attention, as there was a bit of lag and the game was over anyway.
If what you observed is true, Pop will get him over himself real quick.
In previous games, I have seen passiveness, but he always put effort on defense and looked to move the ball. I even saw him engaged talking to guys specially on defense. It exasperated me before that he was offensively so passive, but I figured that Pop didn't want him to take bad shots and only shoot if he was wide open, which would explain his hesitations.
This particular game, I am not sure, Pop got T'ed up, Danny got benched, and he might have checked out of it mentally as he wasn't playing particularly well himself. It might be a sign of mental weakness in his part if he mentally checked out of the game. Not a good trait if that is the case I agree.
This is probably more an indictment on the Kings but he was actually one of their smarter players on the floor last year. I get what you mean about his athleticism. While he would never have the ability to dunk on Ibaka like CoJo, he often hustled and went after 50/50 balls quite often as a King. He also showed ability to drive effectively to the lane. He doesn't have that quick first step but he had an unwavering confidence about him last year. That's probably what stood out for me, was his confidence to be a jack of all trades on the floor. He also had good chemistry with Cousins and looked like someone who can spot start for any team and grow into a solid backup for a contender. I expected more from him out of the gate, really. But he's playing in a much more complicated system, whereas he did alot of freelancing with the Kings. Hopefully, he can find some more playing time in Austin soon.
I doubt he doesn't know what he's doing. Everyone has mentioned he's a smart player, and lets be honest, Becky doesn't get that SL championship without his leadership. He really was engaged with that group. They struggled mightily when he was not on the floor as they sometimes didn't know sets or what they were doing. No Kyle's thing might be something else, its not BBIQ.
I think he's possibly disengaged offensively. His role is defense, rebounding, moving the ball, shoot only if he's open. I have hated it when he's become so passive offensively, that he's not even looking for his shot, and almost doesn't want the ball. But I think Pop doesn't want him to look for his shot. He's only taken his shots when he's forced to by the shot clock. He's made a lot of end of the shot clock shots that have saved posessions. Those are shots Pop would not want him to take in any other scenario.
He drifts at the 3 pt line with the only directive to shoot if he's wide open and no one is closing him out.
He has had good games where he screens, cuts and keeps active and plays off the ball really well, but those are games when the game is on the line, those are actual minutes.
In garbage time he drifts. Call it Bobcats Diaw, Diaw 1.0 or whatever. He always differs to others in garbage time. He's not going to show up in garbage time to show Pop he can play. Heck for all we know, he's not on the line to come show up in garbage time, and Pop would rather see other guys like Boban.
In the 76ers game I remember seeing Pop continue to call plays for Boban.
I am talking about other games, and not so much this one, bc as I mentioned to sasaint this game was so tiny in my laptop for a good chunk of his time that I really missed much of what he did, what I did see wasn't good. Then garbage time I skipped pretty much on account of lag.
That is exactly my point, as you mention chemistry with Cousins. He has no chemistry with these guys, probably has the most with Boban from their dleague games and garbage time.
I just thought about what you wrote here and I am reminded how Pop said he would look good one moment and atrocious the next.
I guess he is still in that stage. I am sure if Pop looks at this film he will shake his head same as you, and get on his ear.
ter is going to wet his pants when he sees Boban![]()
