Bump! Based Anderson came into the game, and the ball started moving better than it ever was with $cam. He got it down to single digits until the Panthers' defense choked - probably because they were so tired from carrying $cam's deadweight ass.

At some point, the Panthers and their fans will have to stop being blinded by gimmicks and accept who the better QB is.

Hopefully Newton misses a game this season and there's Anderson showing why he has a 70 something QB rating which is really bad.

There is a reason he sits on a bench.

I'm no Cam Newton fan and yes he's no Russell Wilson but he is one of the top 10 QB's in the game and that's real obvious. Anyone not seeing that has no business talking football.

How does have zero playoff wins if his team made the Super Bowl?

This thread predates the defense carrying his ass to the Super Bowl. At the time, he had never won a playoff game.

Quarterback grades: Cam Newton, 46.6, and Derek Anderson, 52.2

Cam Newton is now 0-2 over his last two visits to the Georgia Dome, with an inaccurate display that suggested all was not right with the Panthers' quarterback. Outside of one laser to beat CB Desmond Trufant's tight coverage for a touchdown, Newton failed to challenge the Falcons' coverage units, looking particularly rattled when pressured. Under pressure, he completed just two passes on seven attempts with one sack. Anderson did inject a sense of urgency into the offense, but ultimately lofted a ball over the head of TE Greg Olsen that would have been the game-ender.

It's time for the Panthers to end the insanity. It's time for them to start the most qualified quarterback, not the most hyped one.

Bad news for N0 LyF3 ScRuB and all of $cam's other player fans - looks like the Panthers are slowly waking up to who the better option is at QB:

But one thing not concerning the Panthers is Newton's replacement, Derek Anderson.

"The same faith I have in 1," guard Trai Turner said when asked about the faith he had in Anderson replacing Newton, who wears No. 1. "[Anderson] gets reps also. Just like two guys stepped up today at new positions. It’s just the name of the game."

But can the offense survive without Newton?

    History says yes.

Anderson has started twice since 2011 when Newton couldn't play. Both came in 2014 and both, ironically, came against the Buccaneers.

Anderson was 2-0 in those games, leading Carolina to a 20-14 victory at Tampa Bay and a 19-17 victory at home. He completed a combined 49 of 74 pass attempts for 507 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions for a rating of 100.05.

Anderson almost led Carolina back on Sunday, twice cutting the gap to eight in the final five minutes with touchdown passes. The defense simply couldn't stop Atlanta, in particularly wide receiver Julio Jones.

Jones' 75-yard touchdown with 3:45 remaining gave the three-time Pro Bowler 300 yards receiving and Atlanta a 41-26 cushion.

Anderson finished 17-of-23 passing for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

"He did some pretty good things with the exception of the one he was throwing away," Carolina coach Ron Rivera said of Anderson and the interception. "He made some good decisions, some really good reads.

"He handled himself well under the cir stances and got us down there in position to score again."

So Rivera is confident Anderson can replace Newton.

    20-25 as a starter.

    Career numbers.

    54.1 comp %
    60-57 TD/INT
71.6 QB rating which is terrible.

    Oh yes, there's the answer.

The Panthers can't run without Stewart, and it's taking awhile to replace Norman. That is the problem not Newton.

BUT....I do hope Newton sits a couple games out, let everyone see why Anderson is bench ridden, yep....he belongs on one. , already two INT's, ha`~~~~

Newton won a JC Championship, a National Championship, a Heisman, an NFL MVP.

Anderson even sucked at Oreg St. A 50.7 comp %, are you kidding me?

    24 INT's in only 13 games, WHOA~~~~

2-0 as a starter for the Panthers. Nobody's saying Anderson's a true franchise guy, but he's their best option until they can draft a legit QB. Even if he sucks, he won't suck AND get concussed every week.

No he's not and only a dummy like you would think he is. Why do you think he sits on the bench? Don't you think he'd be starting if the coaches thought he was their best option to win? Come on little guy, cool the studity.

AND, concussed every week.....huh? How many times has Newton missed a game, well?

For the same reason why anyone ever sat on the bench behind Tebow, Manziel, RG3, or Krappernick. Desperate franchises get blinded by gimmicks and cling to them well past their sell-by date.

Come on little guy, cool the studity.
    What is "studity"?

    AND, concussed every week.....huh?
The Panthers and NFL were ripped to shreds for not putting him in the concussion protocol after taking several hits to the head against Denver. And he was taken off the field this week to check for a concussion after even more hits to the head. And when he hasn't been busy getting concussed, he's injured his throwing hand and ankle. In previous years, he's played on an ankle injury he first got in college and gotten his ribs fractured by Jamie Collins in the preseason.

The way $cam plays - relying on his athleticism, running around, holding the ball for an eternity - is getting him injured by exposing him to contact that smart quarterbacks know how to avoid. And six years into his career, he's not going to change.
