If he can get access to coaching and drills... then maybe. Need to bring him over to start the program, he isn't going to improve much with inferior coaching.

Will say the same thing about LJC who has made zero improvement since he was drafted. Parker doing a piss poor job of finding a good coach for him.

More like a skinny Steve Novak.
Of course, none of these comparisons are ever perfect, but I think a comparison to Novak is unfair to Bertans. At least before his ligament injuries, we don't know how well he recovered, he seemed far more agile, coordinated, and athletic than Novak, even in Steve's younger years. Now, I don't remember seeing Steve play when he was 20, but 25, yes, and I don't think there would have been much of an athletic dropoff in that time. And at 25, Steve just didn't seem to be on the same level, athletically, as Bertans.

Bertans seems to be a much better ball-handler and rim-protector, and shoots more comfortably on the move, for example.

Maybe if Reggie Miller and Steve Novak had some sort of puppy monkey baby: Davis.

It looks like the guy has a well above average release on the shot. Don't know what the percentage is but maybe he will get over here down the road to help out Kawhi and LMA.

Daye is killing it here in Italy btw
He's listed at 220, now. That's better. Too bad he couldn't get his together in his time, here. Someone complained about him having a slow release on his shot? Not sure that ever posed a problem, even if it is slow, which I don't think it was, particularly. He had a really nice shot. And, he's a long-armed 6'11". He can get it off vs. anyone. That was never a problem. The more I followed him, the more I think he was a 14 year old trapped in a 27 year old's body. He just doesn't seem like a very mature kid. He was on social media and playing in the Drew League, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, de jour, and working on ball-handling too much, when he should have just been shooting in the gym. He did a lot of other things well enough that if he could have shot 40% instead of .333, while he was here, they might have gambled on him improving defensively, etc some more. But, Anderson was younger, already was a comparable, and in some regards, better player, and six or so years younger, and can shoot .333 from three, so we weren't giving up much in cutting Daye. Cleveland and Atlanta were intrigued enough to even try Daye out, afterwards. I guess he's found a home in Italy on the team his father played for...they seem to love him over there...from his social media attention whoring. He should have probably taken a page out of Lamarcus' book.

Daye wasn't it, but it would sure be nice to find a cheap stretch 4 in that mold. Just better.

I've read several wanting to turn Aldridge into a 3 point shooter, which would be great if he could knock them down, but, he's .350 career, and doesn't seem to feel that comfortable taking them. If we get a decent center, next year, maybe he will shoot more from the arc, but I like him closer.

Of course. My somewhat tongue in cheek comment was in response to a comparison to Porzingis.

Aldridge (and even West) was taking more 3's before they came over to the Spurs.

In due time, you'll see Aldridge and West chucking those 3 pointers. Pop likely hiding that option.

I agree - probably part letting them stay in comfort zone, part saving something for the playoffs.

All of the Eurostashes are lottery tickets. PATFO knows it can uncover similar talent in the D-League as is available in the late 20s in the draft among NCAAers, so better to use picks on players stashed overseas who can amount to more. Plus no need to use up roster spots on them yet.

If any of them amount to rotation players, it's all icing on the cake.

    watching the game today
defensively he's tall and agile to make it difficult for the opponent, offensively his 3pt shot is just ridiculous

If Bertans had had a better summer league, he'd have been signed this year, imo. As it now stands, I don't know exactly where he stands in the Spurs plans. Not sure the Spurs even know.

The one that played in the summer would not be being compared, even jokingly, with Daye, Porzingis, Novak, stretch fours, Aldridge, or rim protectors. Dairis is a 6'4" shooting guard (point guard), kind of like Jimmer. But tougher.

Well, Jimmer is now listed as the #1 D-League prospect (before he won the DLASG MVP); so, he'll be back in the NBA before your Mr. Tough Guy. But thanks for the info all the same.

That's like being #1 Al Queda leader because all the other ones got knocked off. If a bunch of players get called up, the dregs move up the ranks. I think they had teenagers flying zeros in WWII. They were the best pilots Japan had. Jimmer is now #1.

I agreed with you. After all the best guys got called up. Jimmer is #1 of the unwanted guys. Better to be the head of the mouse than the tail of lion. Or, in this case, is it?

Awesome to see he still has that explosiveness. Great dunk.

Anyone know what type of handles he has?

I'm irrationally excited about seeing this guy here next year. Have been high on him since the George Hill trade.
