Jennings has an expiring contract & they did the deal to dump Harris. Payton is fine since Skiles like defensive PGs as Kirk Hinrick proved.

They just have to now decide whether to pay Fournier or trade him along w/ Jennings expiring contract or Illyasova.
Skiles has already been inconsistent with Payton's minutes, he's only been playing more recently because they don't have an alternative(Napier?)..I'm expecting this to become a split-minutes situation..

Fournier has been pretty nice at the 3, so far..

I was aware of that when I made the Noah suggestion, dude can't possible get more than 12-14 mill until he proves his health.
The old $15 Million was from stretching Manu, Tim and Diaw. Now, it Manu and Tim retire, the team can just have that much space. Of course, using it on Noah (no, btb) would be bye-bye Boban. But the Spurs could reenter the Pau sweepstakes with a strong chance.

Does anyone in that lineup shoot over 35% from 3?
True..for some reason I thought KCP was shooting well from 3, but apparently he's 31%

That Jodi Meeks signing killed them..he was supposed to be the shooter that SVG was desperate to get..

Whether you think Harris is solid or not, you got to respect SVG as a GM. He turned that franchise around. Look where they were headed under Dumars. It's impressive. Bold leader. I don't doubt they will be better because they didn't give up much. Ilyasove was a resurrection project and they already have Jackson so they didn't need another starting quality pg.
What you have to respect the most is that he got Ilyasova, Morris, Jackson and now Harris while giving up not first-rounders. That's really good.

It was pretty clear that Jarret Jack was a gunner ala Gary Neal & Livingston was a legit backup who was closing games for BK if anyone saw them play.

BTW..Jack wasn't traded by the Worriers, he ended up in BK after the Cavs signed him. The Worrier had signed Steve Blake to replace Jack but he was miserable.
Yeah, even though they ended up on their respective former teams, it wasn't a trade. Blake was / is awful.

In hindsight, Livingston should never have gone for the MLE, but the league continued to be freaked out about his injury history. Spurs didn't even use their MLE last offseason in full - blessing in disguise as it did allow for them to onboard Aldridge more easily.

Could actually see him being part of a Horford deal. I know he hasn't been good, but a true stretch-five is uber-rare. Would take him on the Spurs next season if Duncan retires.

I'd like Frye on the Spurs if we didn't already have a stacked big rotation + he wasn't getting paid $20+ million over the next 3 years.

Don't know why people want Noah. He's not a spur and he's been injured a lot lately. I don't want to spend that much on a player on the decline and who's body is breaking down from all the wear and tear thibs minutes caused. I don't think he's worth the headache. He has a bonehead at ude and severely lacking the character of what we expect in core piece. Don't like the other options either, namely hibbert and mozgov. Maybe Pau if he opts out.

I mean, if the Spurs could get a starter next to LMA at $8 Million a year, that would be awesome. As crazy at it may sound, dude put up numbers in the Horford range before going to Orlando. If he's not done, I think he'd be a steal.

They have Hezonja who is also a 3 so it's going to create a log jam like the Gordon/Harris situation. They can reunite Dragic w/ Frye by trading Fournier/Frye for Deng/Whiteside. It would give them the rim protector they are missing because Vuc is a terrible defender.

They can play Gordon at the 4 to matchup with small-ball lineups or play him at the 3 as a defensive stopper & slide Dipo to the point.

    Whiteside
    Vuc/Gordon
    Hezonja/Gordon
    Dipo/Hezonja
    Payton/Dipo

They could use their pick on a scoring point guard like Jamal Murray.

I like Frye as a 3rd big off the bench to stretch the floor.

If Duncan retires, I'd rather have a rim protector next to Aldridge.

Pau/LMA would get slaughtered by the Worriers (http://www.basketball-reference.com/...601200CHI.html), besides Boban is only good for padding the point differential.

I was more talking about the Spurs trading for him right now. With us still having Duncan + not really having cap room, getting Frye right now isn't really much of an option I don't think.

I agree that going forward it could be a solid deal. If Duncan retires + the cap goes up as high as it's expected, $8 million/year (actually less since his contract was loaded on the front-end) for a legitimate starting stretch 5 would be nice. His age is somewhat of a concern, but he's still shooting 40% from 3 and RPM has him as a clear net positive player.

Frye is actually a pretty decent rim-protector; he and LMA average the same number of blockers per-100 for their careers. People seem to forget that Frye is a legit center and played the position with great success for years.

Leuer can shoot the ball & put it on the floor which is something the Plumlee boys aren't capable of doing on a consistent basis. The best comparison I got for you is Patrick Patterson of the Raptors. He has been misused like Channing Frye was early on in his career b/c he's a stretch 4 that isn't being used as a stretch 4.
I hope we get some rim protection going forward.

You don't play a center next to LMA against the Warriors. But the way Pau has been playing this season, he has plenty in the tank to take it to GS when LMA sits.

Pau would be nice in Diaw's spot.

If Tim/Manu retire, ship Diaw's partially guaranteed contract to the Hawks to re-acquire Tiago then sign Pau & use the left over money for a Manu replacement (Courtney Lee/Mayo?). Assuming D-West opts-in, he can backup LMA & PATFO can go after a mobile big/stretch 4 like Jon Leuer who can be had for cheap.

They were trying to trade him for peanuts during the Summer but there were no takers. I guess his contract was more than desirable for GMs but that could change next season.

I like him, but it's not like Aldridge is a reference as a rim protector.

I see Frye as a stretch BIG. I'm ok with this pairing as long as they're not the starters. I love him as an option, not as our starting C.

Not sure who we could pursue, but I prefer an authentic rim protector, someone that really intimidates people from driving to the rim, like Gobert or Bogut. I know it's almost impossible to find those guys for cheap, but those are the kind of players that I'd like to see starting with Aldridge.
