Not one of his fellow senators including Cornyn has endorsed him. That says a lot.
Sanders doesn't have any endorsements from the senate either, but there are fewer democrats in the senate and he's an overt socialist. Plus the senators are just picking who they think will actually win, perhaps a promotion is in the cards for them if they predict right.
Cruz is a creepy guy.
That said, Trump is even creepier and disgusting.

I call him Krazy Kruz, but it's very clear it's not crazy at all.
He knows exactly what he's doing, which is lying about himself and everyone else every time he opens his mouth. Lies that are calculated to sucker in Christian Taliban, bubbas, rednecks, gun fellators, govt-haters, etc, etc.
Cruz' record shows he very intelligent, capable, motivated, driven, but he is totally evil, lacking any respectability, honesty, even losing to OJ Donny in respectability. The only principle he respects is himself as the pinnacle of mankind.

The Shilary comparison is there because neither one has any real ideals or morals they represent, their sole focus is political power however they can get it. If 30 years ago Shilary thought her political career would be more successful as a bible thumping right wing tea bagger, that's what she would have been. If at the same time Ted Cruz thought his political career would be most successful as a far left wing socialist, that's what he would have been.
With Trump and Sanders, even if becoming more moderate on certain issues would get them more votes, neither one would do it because they actually stand for the political views they claim to represent.
He'll never be president. Among other things, too ugly. He could do complete a 180 on his politics, but America isn't going to elect an ugly president. I couldn't care less what he looks like, but that's just the reality IMO.
But, I have to say, that much like Hillary Clinton--probably even to a greater degree of that's even possible--he comes off as a full-of- /phony politician who fact-twists, distorts and manipulates, and has no moral scrupples doing so. Because he's just a piece of politician, and he's fine with being that.
Well, that last part I don't know about any more. I think that on this big of a stage, I think (and I hope) people are taking notice of what he's all about. The thing with Carson was stupid because many who are pro-Carson may not side with him when/if Carson does back out after that, when otherwise they would've probably. He tactics can only take him so far. He may know that himself. He is what he is. He's not a serious presidential candidate. But he's making a of a lot of dough pretending to be one.
