I don't think any playoff team has the money to claim him, and only a few teams would even have the interest to sign him up once he clears waivers.
Eh, Cleveland and probably Portland could claim him, but I don't think they want that money on the books next year.

I don't see anyone claiming him. If this was his last year on his current contract yes. But you have to guarantee next year's PO as well. But the thing is, you have to pay him more this season. You would have to pick the remaining 2mil in salaries this year and then next. Right now, teams just have to pay him the minimum which is 500k if he signs with them.

Guaranteeing him 9mil in salaries is something I don't see any teams doing. That is why Johnson cleared. Martin's cap hit wouldn't be as high as Johnson's would have have been for this year, but the fact that 1 year remains on his contract is going to scare teams from wanting to claim him.

I agree that no one's claiming him. But I was just saying that teams can do it, and a team like Portland might if they think he would them over the next couple of years. If Martin is allowed to do his thing, he's worth $7 Million a year, and he could probably do that with the Blazers. And it's not like they have anything better to spend the money on.

He is not counting Butler as a small ball PF. Butler has played that role several games over the past 4 weeks and has been HIGHLY effective at it. He even blocked Vuvecic shot, which IMO was the game sealing play against Orlando.

And Spurs will play alot of small ball against OKC and GSW. He is much more valuable to this team than Bonner is right now.

This is including that KA also has played the small ball PF. Spurs won every game he started at PF. Spurs have LMA, West, Diaw, KA and Butler that all can play the PF position w/ KA and Butler being more situational PFs.

Has real issues with shooting spots. Chinook's points were actually on point concerning that. I looked at his shooting charts.. by far prefers the left side of the court.

I am not thrilled about him. Anderson should kick his behind in practice IMO.
"should" kick his behind. That's a big "should". I think KMart would be here to knock down shots and drive to the basket. Green has been very inconsistent on the offensive end this year and the Spurs will need shooters to help space the floor.

I was just posting the tweet from Paul Garcia. Personally, I hope they cut Bonner to make room for Martin if he decides to sign with the Spurs.

I agree with your assessment. Blazers could. But they are already on the hook of paying Varejao 9.3 mil next year and he isn't even on the roster. Lillard will get the Max.

TB will have a lot of cap. I see them signing Whiteside and move Plumlee back to the bench. I just don't think they want to be burden with another contract of a player they don't really need. Someone like Whiteside would be perfect playing along Lillard and the Blazer's mgt have already said they wanted to build around him, which is why the Spurs got LMA in the first place.

Same here. I know who Paul Garcia is. I just disagree w/ his assessment that the Spurs are only limited 5 bigs when just in the past month, both Butler and KA have seen considerable time at PF while Duncan was out.

Yes that too, I forgot his contract ended in 2017 instead of this summer. There's no way anyone is claiming that, and Portland is rebuilding with young players and has McCollum/Henderson, they have no need for Martin.

I would argue that butler is more useful as a small ball 4 that bonnet is as a 5

The fact that he was waived last night, he won't be able to sign with a team until tomorrow evening. So you're not going to hear much til then unless he is claimed off waivers.

We could actually hear something at any time. Both Miller to the Spurs and Humphries to the Hawks, for example, were reported before waivers were cleared.

Blazers have to pay Crabbe (who plays the same position K-Mart) along with RFA Leonard or sign someone like Whiteside. With CJ/Crabbe on the roster, the Blazers don't need a 33 yr old SG ala the T-Pups.

They also have to pay CJ in 2017.

Martin's deal ends before McCollum's next deal begins, so that's not an issue. And they could use some vets for the playoffs. Crabbe and Aminu are good wings, but neither are bona fide scorers. Could see how Martin would help them
