I guess it was OK. Nothing special or Oscar worthy. Neither Bale nor Carrell were believable in their roles. Pitt phoned it in. Would have been better with a lesser known cast IMO. Boiler room was a way more enjoyable show about financial scam. There are at least a handful of books that are more entertaining to read as opposed to watching The Big Short.

Idk. Maybe it was the character that out me off. This was supposed to be based on the events. I just cant Imagine that that guy was that off the wall.

Michael Burry in real life has asperger syndrome, so he actually is that off the wall. I read the book several years and ago Bale's character was pretty much exactly how Michael Lewis portrayed him. It was a great acting job.

Ok then. I just had a hard time believing he was running an office with the metal music blaring constantly. But if that's the reality, then I'm wrong. He's one of my favorite actors.

Idk about details like the metal music or his unprofessional attire, Hollywood always adds that kind of sensationalism even if it's a true story, I was more talking about his general social awkwardness and rainman-ish personality.

The stuff about him being the only person to actually read through all the mortgage do ents/borrower info and crunch the numbers in 2005 is 100% true as well, as hard as that might seem to believe.

I wish I had read the book first. If all that you mentioned was added by Hollywood, then it was totally unnecessary. I think it took away from his character. It would have played fine with just the awkwardness and his pouring through the mortgages.

Agreed, I'm never a fan of the added that takes a character over the top.

I also thought Steve Carrell did a great job too. Gosling's character might not have been very accurate but he was hilarious
