One of the unintentionally funny things about the rise of Steph Curry is watching LeBron get jealous and act catty like the class beauty queen when a newer prettier girl joins the class. LBJ has always been respectful to the older generation of greats he's played against (Duncan, Kobe) but he acts completely threatened when someone brings up a "new" great who is younger than him. Earlier this season a reporter asked him about Kawhi's progression and LBJ went out of his way to say something dismissively like "everyone improves, why ask me about him?" Wish I had that video. Too funny.

I think it was after the first Cleveland game this year. I'll try and find it. In essence the reporter asks LBJ about how much Kawhi has improved since he's come into the league, and LeBron's answer is to list off all these players who improved year by year including himself, Tim Duncan (I think) etc. The gist of it is everyone improves, and there's no reason to discuss Kawhi. It's dismissive to the tenth degree and also transparent and petty. And of course the Spurs had just won and Kawhi was his primary defender so the reporter's question was perfectly valid.

Here it is. The Kawhi question is at 1:47.

Perhaps its not quite as bad as I remembered it. But the gist really is that Kawhi's improvement is nothing special.

Why? Is it going to help them win another championship?
I'm not sure how relevant that comment is. Me watching Spurs games doesn't help them win championships, but I watch every game. Me watching the championship videos doesn't help them win, but I've watched all 5 of them.

The Spurs are part of the NATIONAL Basketball Association. When they do something noteworthy, it should be given proper coverage by the NATIONAL media. Who cares if it helps the Spurs win another le. (Again, I'm not sure that comment makes sense in this context.)

Dude somehow felt threatened. Then brought it back to reality after he knew he went off on a tangent. I think I saw a
    in there.

It wasn't that bad, but I understand the answer. It always seems like the local media is fishing for compliments from everybody. I'm sure it get's irritating after awhile. You see it happen with new Spurs players getting the "what's it like playing with three hall of famers like Tony, Tim, Manu?" or "How is it different (better in SA) versus playing with that losing team you came from?"

Now I know they don't say it REALLY like that, but it has that connotation. It reminds me of the response Tim gave in regards to Kobe in his last game against him, the media was looking for some sort of complimentary sound bite and Tim wasn't having it.

Nice find! His first reaction was: "Is that a trick question?" I guess he didn't want to go down the Durant foot up in mouth blundering. Still very dismissive, it is nothing special according to him.

1.) Me watching the game on DVR about 30 minutes in to skip through timeouts. Wearing Spurs gear. Wearing white gear on away games and black gear on home games. etc. etc. ABSOLUTELY helps them win.

2.) ESPN doesn't owe the Spurs or any other team anything. They are just out to make a buck. Do you really think they care who is hot right now? No, they care about who everyone else thinks is hot.

^^^ It changes from team to team, now it's the W's. In the 00's it was LA mostly. All the media groupies get paid to jock a team and all root for the same teams, they are paid well to do it.
Imagine if the internet was big during either of the bulls 3peats. ESPN was around, but the internet wasn't standard and in every household in the late 90s.

ESPN (Disney) wants GS and LeBron. it's no secret. What they would also like
to have is at least one woman coach and a GLBT on each team.
