There is a huge jump in the cap for 2016-17. Durant's max will be around $27 million for the first year. So will DeRozan's. Whiteside's would be $23 million. The ~$65 million cap number is about right after factoring in the cap holds for the 6 empty roster spots the Lakers would have, but that's $77 million in salary for those three.
Looked up all det. Nervous BB?

The only FA I think the Lakers have a realistic chance of getting is Whiteside. I don't know Toronto's cap situation, but I doubt DeMar leaves them if they reach the ECF. If he does leave, it sure as won't to be the Lakers. No player who gets a taste of a deep playoff run wants to start all over unless he's really, really disgruntled with his organization.

KD is a pipe dream. He'll be 28 at the start of next season. Do you think he wants to come in a work-in-progress team that is 3 to 5 years away from even winning 40 games? KD is in le or bust mode. He'll stay home or possibly go to Washington. They can pitch Wall and Beal, and also pitch the fact they're in the East, far away from the Warriors and the Spurs. The only challenge a KD led Wizards team will have in the East are the Cavs.

The Lakers pitch is Byron Scott, a snitch, and the weather.

Plus, hes going to lose a lot of money if he does. I know the endorsement money is nice, but lets not act like this guy is some no name. This the same guy that has averaged 29ppg in virtually 50-40-90 splits the last 7-8 years. Hes already an endorsement king.

It makes the most sense to stay in OKC, moneywise..but h probably would feel a slight dissapointment when he sees westbrook name above him in the mvp race. Plus, OKC is a cheap organization. Outside of Kanter, this ownership hasnt shown the willingness to spend crazy to win.

The place that makes the most sense without sacrificing that much money is Boston. He will lose about 15 million IIRC in a 4 year span, but that shouldnt be that big of a difference maker as opposed to LA where he will lose 30 million in the same span. Plus Boston is now a legit team.

I might be off with the numbers but yeah Lakers makes zero sense. Moneywise and winning wise..

Damn, they could land Durant and Horford, only losing Amir Johnson, Evan Turner, and Jonas Jerebko.

O'RLy? KD made ~$21M this year. He could sign with us for a one year deal, then sign a max deal next year since we'd have his Bird Rights. There are so many possibilities son.

Lakers wouldn't have Bird Rights after only one year Pablo, it takes three.

The Lakers w/ Durant/Derozan/Whiteside/D-Bust/Julian would be inferior to Bron/Kyrie/Love/JR/Tristan whom GM Bron is trying to breakup b/c they can't compete w/ the Spurs/GSW. (Might as well stay in OKC & keep his money)

I'm gone leave this right here:

KD gets $22M, Biyombo gets $16M, Derozan gets $19M. That's ~$59M for 3 max players. We have over $65M in cap space. You were saying?
    Corrected.

thinking KD is signing for 22 million under the new cap
He'll sign for 1-year with the Lakers. Then the new cap kicks in. Then he'll ensure he retires a Laker by signing a 5 years deal. Next Summer we have another max player slot as well.

    It could happen son.

    Photo shop..

But I Hope he does go to either the Lakers or spurs. If he goes east, I see him less.

Durant to the Lakers would increase the talking here 200%. I'd love that.

Even better: Durant to the spurs, Westbrook to Lakers. The two teams always meet in the second round and the warriors beat the eventual winner.

Byron would be pissed if Luke got KD and a solid supporting cast around him and made the 2nd round in the 1st year.

He and Mark Jackson would form a tight bond and go on a haters drinking binge.
