OK, imagine you are working a Whataburger. You started on mopping duty. But then you are on fries now. Really the stud WB employee.

You telling me that if Wendy's or , even Chipotle comes calling you aren't listening? I mean who doesn't like free chipotle and being wine'd and dined?

Why even meet with other teams if you aren't going to leave OKC. Seems pointless to me.
If there was no chance of him leaving then he wouldn't have taken the other meetings. OKC is still in pole position, but there are things that appeal to him from each of the other teams he won't have if he stays in OKC.

OKC - championship core with great team chemistry

Spurs - Pop, championship culture, #1 scoring option opportunity

Clips - Doc, unselfish superstars, LA

MIA and Boston - Uhh...Riley and championship legacy, I guess.

Durant won't have a chance to be the #1 scoring option in OKC? News to me. Westbrook averaged 10.4 assists last year. What about overrated Pop? He doesn't look so tough without Duncan being at the top of his game. Just ask OKC and the Clippers. Championship culture is a thing of the past when Duncan and Ginobili retire. They're basically starting over.

I wonder what Kawhi thinks about being #2, losing his position at SF or his legacy in San Antonio. If actions speak louder than words and in Leonard's case, they do because he doesn't speak, then we already know what he thinks.

Does no team have player development strategies? I know you have to spend cap, but why not bump up your kids salary rather than bring in three dubious valued mid tier players? Why not just stay under the cap and load up on undrafted players. None of these big money contracts have big upside. I guess mosgov, deng, and other guys don't have downsides but there are more than a few multi millionaire warm body signings.

I just think it'll destroy team chemistry for an under performing mid tier player to be your leading salary. Not every team is a disciplined like the spurs and their ability to tolerate that Parker contract. That Parker contact was also never the biggest team contact either

And although he's overpaid now he had "earned it" one could say with a couple of great seasons when he wasn't paid top dollar. That's different from bringing someone out of the blue.

To see what's out there. Even if it's likely you know you want to stay, I think players have legit interests. It's like saying why not marry the first person you kind of like? Sure, you may like them a lot, but if you don't explore you may not know for sure.

Plus when you are as good as KD and sought after, things are different since you know you get max no matter where you go. Allows to get insight to things outside of your bubble to see if you are missing anything or can learn and bring back.
Ive been headhunted several times. A couple times it has happened when I wasn't actively searching. I got calls and emails. I didnt even listen. When I'm not pushing my intent out there, I find it tasteless for employers to call out of the blue. I wouldn't want to be associated with that, even for a raise, better benefits, working conditions, etc. You are the company you keep.

The other times I have had employers calling was due to word of mouth that I was looking. This time I did listen. BUT only because I KNEW I wasn't a lifer at my current(at that time) place of employment. It's about loyalty with me.

To hear about these guys parading around and wasting time, it's nonsense, really. If I were KD I would be working the choking out of my game. Hearing about this should make it even more enjoyable the Spurs have the characters that they do. Unfortunately, Pop is buying into this garbage. If you have to hear someone tell you you're great, you're not that great. Maybe that's why KD Lebum Aldridge have a knack for choking.

Nets are going spend themselves into a team that hovering at around the 8th seed. Maybe not this year but over the next couple. By the time they get their draft picking ability back they'll be getting end of the lottery picks and have blow the team up again.
