I don't think it's hold the Spurs back. They just aren't making any moves at the moment.
I am liking it, too. Waiting for the stoopid money to get spent to see what more reasonable deals are to be made. Plus, teams will start renouncing RFAs who will be late arriving UFAs in the market. Perhaps we can even pick up a little gravy by being a third team trade facilitator.

No one wants to play long term in Oklahoma

Please Dallas land Barnes so you can even be more terrible than you already are and committed long term to an average player. Why are they waiting so long to sign him to an offer sheet?
If they sign him now it puts pressure on GSW. They will have only 3 days to match. That would put pressure on Durant to make a decision.

So you're suggesting if KD doesn't come to the Spurs, he's a low BBIQ player?? Uh...ok. As you suggest.
No Im saying the best decision is for him to come here and its pretty obvious. Its a very easy pick. If he cant see that then he is low IQ.

No wonder the spurs been looking at many low key bigs. The good ones are out of the budget.

The fact that these MONSTER deals are being thrown out for bigs and Pau is not among them gives me comfort. Seems pretty clear he's holding out for a deal from a contender.

Golden State would be re ed to match regardless of KD's decision

Great to see these young s force the Dan Gilberts of the world to give them these bloated contracts.

It's like Robin Hood but instead of stealing from the rich to give to the poor, it's stealing from the uber rich to give to the rich...

    God bless America tbh.
The league is just making more money. The owners are also making more money.

    Exactly. Better deals this route.

I agree completely. Harrison Barnes made some sort of deal with the Devil. The dude is even on the Olympic team.

He'll probably get an offer the Spurs don't even come close to matching. I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you.

No one's holding their breath on him coming here. I think most just want to move on already.
Exactly. So the FO needs to move on and sign Pau before the MoFo signs elsewhere. Free agency will be over with before Durant makes his decision.

The teams contending for him aren't big players otherwise.

    A few notes:

Woj bleeds!! First time I've seen him back peddle.

How does it make sense that ATL is ok paying Horford 130M but they draw the line at 6M total (1.2M a year for 5 years) ?!

Interesting that Horford nixed OKC because KD didn't commit long term....interesting.
To be fair, OKC lost Harden for a 6m difference (he wanted 60m and OKC was willing to pay 54m at most).

But yeah, it was funny to see Woj trying to fix his 1st tweet when he said that Boston and WAS were basically out. 2 minutes later Horford tweets a bunch a green stuff finally choosing the Celtics.

He probably already has. Portland reportedly went after him hard and made him a major priority. No deal.

He's the Warriors plan B so if the Spurs want Gasol, they'd better act quick.

Disagree, He wouldnt be first option there. He would face the highest taxes and cost of living and get absolutely destroyed by the media.

Nothing, including offer sheets, can be signed until after the moratorium. KD will make his decision long before that.

Good. Put pressure on the Warriors to choose between Barnes and the hope of Durant.
I don't see how that pressures the Dubs. Durant will almost certainly decide before the 7th...

They DID trade him - for Dwight and +/- $45MM in cap space.
uhhhggggg I forgot about that yuck. Dwight has a reputation for getting coaches fired.
    Good luck Bud!

Bigger surprise of free agency...the ridiculous amount of guaranteed money being paid to middling NBA players, or Woj throwing out an inaccurate off-base tweet?

    I'm going with the latter.

Definitely, the amount of money being paid out was entirely predictable.

That's be great news for the Spurs if Bud got fired.
