Hey let's be honest here Manu has sacrificed more than anyone over the years in terms of salary to keep the core together. He could have gone elsewhere in his prime but chose to stay. He deserves $10 mil.

    That's what I think too.

If someone had said to me after the 2013, 14, or 15 seasons, who had more time left Manu or Timmy, I'd have gone with Duncan easily. Strange how things change.
    Very true.

Anyway, glad that he's coming back and that the Spurs are rewarding him for services rendered.

Eh, it was a mutual sacrifice. In the long run the Spurs allowed him to make more money over time by extending his career. If he had gone elsewhere, he'd been out of the league years ago due to injury.

If the Spurs re-sign Manu without renouncing him, they can wait until everyone else is signed and give him anything up to the max. Given Garcia's explanation, I could see this. I think it's even more plausible if Tim doesn't retire and signs a minimum contract after being waived/stretched (if that's possible).
Yeah, Manu's cap hold is only $4.35 million I think. He absolutely deserves $10-$15 million this year to make up for the paycuts he has taken.

Yep...I said all along that last year would be Manu's last but it looked like Duncan had enough left in the tank to keep playing.

    So much for that.

I haven't mentally prepared for Duncan to be gone.
With Tim's contract what it is the Spurs are about $1 million short of being able to offer Gasol $15 million starting unless Tim retires and the Spurs apply the stretch provision.

If Tim was coming back you probably would have heard Gasol signed for 2 years, $28 million. It's never going to feel the same without him. When David retired that whole 2003-04 season just felt off after watching him for 14 years. I don't know how long it'll take getting used to Tim not being there after 19 years.

Going off Robinson will be like no more Coke Zero.

Going off Duncan will be like smack withdrawal.

Of course not. His agent is lying his ass off to get more money. Don't think other teams want a 39 year old who's choked in 3 out of the last 4 playoffs.
