Take it for what it's worth, article says Bertans is 2 yrs - 4 million
I knew what you were doing. One of my eyes is sort of twitching at your logic, but I have to give you an A for effort.
So if Kyle plays good, you win? But if he plays badly, Nono can't complain - because Manu picked him in a backhand sort of way? It's a two-headed coin.

I like creativity in words lol

It's actually better that you remain in that gray area. He needs to show up, I will be the first to admit that. And as much as I am nudging Nono about Manu, I am actually glad Manu got paid bc I can tell you, it would probably have been too much, too soon, to dump the bench burden on his shoulders with no veteran presence, which is what would have happened without Manu (Mills is not a better player than Kyle IMO, he's a better shooter, but you take that away and Mills has no value, Kyle has value even when he is not shooting bc he can impact the game in many other ways and he demonstrated it with how much he played last season on low usage and contributing in a lot of categories beside taking shots. Once he starts having an offensive impact, he will be incredible for the team IMO). But I digress, the point is that it would have been too much too soon to put the bench burden on his shoulders when he is still getting adjusted to the NBA himself, since he played so little in the NBA his first season.
In this context, I see Manu as much needed help, support and hopefully mentor for all the youngsters and his contract is well deserved and he will likely earn it. Ideally the young guys grow and can do more and more as the season goes along, but I do believe they will need Manu.
Provided that Arcidiacono and Forbes got min-exception deals, I think the team was close enough to the cap to get that done. The actual math I got was just over $3.5M/2, but we don't know how much Gasol is going to make.
Jealous, you can eat Conan's Pizza whenever you want.
Past the schticks, I love my Spurs, and Kyle is a Spur... I'm gonna and complain throughout the season in countless game threads about him, and many other Spurs (except Manu), but it's just heat of the moment stuff... I want everyone to do well.
Heck, you've been here long enough, you know the drill...
You know, all season we will go back and forth bc a young guy like Kyle will have good games and bad games. I would not expect consistency of him until he reaches a level ... like Pop did with Kawhi who was inconsistent early, and it wasn't until he reached a level that Pop said, now you have to do that nightly. So fandom will wax and wane around here. And Manu will be the same waxing and waning, bc old fart that he is he will have good and bad games too. Hopefully these two don't combine to have bad games together. Manu is Kyle's mentor all things considered. Totally different games but in terms of role as a leader they need to have a similar mentality. As Nono acknowledged Manu has only had good words to say about Kyle. I am sure Nono won't be convinced until Kyle shows balls and wins us some games in the playoffs lol As a real team fan, is anyone hoping he really flunks us? The team is really invested in his development at this point. I think personally this friendly bantering at this point will continue bc Nono won't stop trollingBut a real team fan won't be hoping to win on this by hoping Kyle totally screws the team over.
He has to say that. Can't come out and say "We're gonna cut him."
What the he'll are some of you smoking? Kyle is TERRIBLE and a huge Weakness in our team. He has potential to play in the Mexican league. If lucky.
But also surrounded by NBA players on your own roster and in a completely different role. I like Simmoms in a much lower usage role. When he turned into Summer League Harden... not so much
Matt Bonner is a warm body. For the min you could do worse. I'd say He's a good locker room guy, but without Duncan we may need new leaders other than Bonner. Anyway, per par not worth the worry
I'd take Bonner over Kevin Martin (and so I guess by extension DeMar DeRozan), but no one else. It's not even that he's all that bad of a player. Just cut that damned cord already.
The Spurs cut Rasual Butler in favor of Bonner. I don't trust the front office's judgement anymore when it comes to Bonner. He's overstayed his damn welcome already. Time to move on from him like they were forced to do with Timmy. You still have Tony and Manu on the team to stroll down memory lane, tbh.
In fact, why isn't he begging Boston to sign him since he said he wanted to finish his career there? Just get the off the Spurs already.![]()
I do not understand the profusion of guards right now for the Spurs.....
Do you remember when we lost against okc because our bigs suck? Matt Bonner is a big. Are you suggesting it's a bad call not to dilute the teams big man depth? I think that's a fair call for a team. I'm not suggesting Bonner is any good, just that he plays a position of need.
Again, he'll be the sixth or fifth big.. I would say ljc plays more minutes in all likelihood.
At least two are going to Austin, Murray and arcy most likely. But maybe also Forbes.
We can move on from Duncan but not Bonner.
Kevin Seraphin has been offered to FC Barcelona.
RC, I think we need to keep Bonner so he can teach Bertans the ropes
KA is not a better player than Patty.
He COULD be a better player if things click. Patty has proven to be a NBA player and was a key rotational player on the bench that lead a team to a championship.
KA has played well against D-League scrubs. Until he has shown that he is an NBA player, it's crazy to say he's better than Patty. Right now all KA has is upside.
One is getting better, the other getting worse. Sometimes you bet on the hot hand,, but mostly they pay different positions, but I would say both are worth an early second rounder at best. Mills contract is trade friendly and mills has a very replaceable skill set.
So Idk if you just value shooting mills> Kyle, but everything else Kyle> patty
and it still cost the spurs boban
yes I know they had bird rights but they had to be under the tax threshold and had to stay in line with the budget owner set
Spurs still had money under the luxury tax to make an offer nearly equivalent or equivalent to Detroit's on Boban I believe, even wit Manu's deal. Maybe they just didn't want Boban at that price or for that long a commitment as it looks like there targeting money for 2018-19 at this point.
