His stats were far better than Pippen's in that series, though
Prime Scottie shot .400 against Orland0o. Jordan average 31.5 on .477![]()
Which explains why his only playoff series loss w/ prime Pippen came when he lost his athletic ability due to beisbol.![]()

Indeed. Tim was a swimmer and they have soccer style physiques![]()
Scottie was spent carrying the team which eventually broke his back while Jordan was playing fatball.
They didn't grow up on a farm digging ditches unlike red necks like Ostertag.![]()
I know what you said, lefty. You said it's more popular today than it was back in the day. That's technically not wrong, I guess. However; What you should have said is that "soccer isn't as irrelevant as it once was when Hakeem was a kid."
You should never use that word (popular) when talking about Americans and Soccer.
I draw the line at the NHL. Hockey is a game where millions and millions of kids growing up can't play because their city just doesn't have the weather to support it. If your sport can't beat the NHL's ratings in America...........that sport isn't "popular".
Mlb is by far the 2nd most popular league in the USA.
Sorry. My bad. I was wrong for saying that the MLB is below hockey...it isn't.
MLB pulls higher ratings than the NBA though?
On average it does, especially locally.
I like em all.
Soccer: players are in fantastic shape. The fact that they are Pretty much done by early 30s shows how incredibly taxing the sport is on the legs. The coordination of spacing and timing makes it an incredible team sport like basketball in many ways. And there is room to show off individual skills. Because it's mostly continuous play, the participants are often forced to make adjustments on their own. I love most of the announcers in this sport because they will tell you if it's . And they stfu and let the play speak for itself. They don't over use superlatives like the big 3 in the US. The cruelest of all sports as performance often does not match score.
Football: especially college... The best But I can see why foreigners hate it. Actual time playing the game is incredibly tiny.
Baseball: incredible hand eye coordination required. Hitting a baseball is extraordinarly difficult. But because the specialization in positions is even greater in this sport than football, you can be a fat pig and do fine in at least 3 positions. And there is a whole lot of scheming by managers and pitchers. Definitely have to grow up with it. Way slow, worse than football.
Basketball. IMO, the best athletes. And a great mixture of all of the above. Suggestion: If fouled on a shot attempt, 1 shot to make 2 or 3. And one, give the one automatically, no FT required. Solves the foul line boredom.
During a recent steal against the Braves, Gordon took a lead of 11.2 feet and hit a top speed of 21.1 mph on the way to second base. That's fast, but it's not Hamilton fast.
Hamilton stole a base against the Cubs this season and hit 21.2 mph, which explains how he was able to get away with a huge lead of 11.9 feet.
Trout's no slouch, of course. The reigning American League MVP had the shortest lead -- 10.5 feet -- in the clip of a steal against Oakland, and he still managed to get to a top speed of 20.8 mph.Gareth Bale has been caught speeding in Madrid by Spanish TV channel La Sexta. Despite insisting he's had no pre-season and being worried about his fitness, Bale was clocked sprinting at 40kmph in last Sunday's draw with Villarreal - almost 25 mph just 2 mph behind Usain Bolt at world record speed.
That's great, but my quote, "I guess you missed the part where Jordan played baseball as his first sport," had everything to do with someone basically saying there's no better point in the thread than when Olajuwon said playing soccer is what helped him become the star he did. If it did for Olajuwon, it certainly did for Jordan.
If being a goalie and having to react in an instant to a shot going one way or another helped Olajuwon become the official all-time blocked shots leader then having to react (hand-eye coordination) in an instant to a pitch and having the agility+timing down to steal bases also helpd Jordan in basketball.
See above. You missed the point, which was that Olajuwon's quote didn't end the thread.
Wait, Olajuwon didn't choke, his team and especially his coach did (RiP Guy V. Lewis, he had a great, underrated career otherwise). Olajuwon was so good he is the last player to date to be named Tournament MOP (~FF MVP~) on a losing team and frankly, he was the only reason Houston was even in that game because he took over at the start of the second half but the high al ude of Albuquerque got to him and when he went to the bench for a literal breather, NC State starting getting back in the game.
The soccer world is notorious for overrating player speed. They estimated Robben's sprint in the world cup at 37kmh before FIFA came in and downgraded it to 31kph.
That estimate of Bale's speed took place in 2013, before FIFA implemented their sensor gates and EA implemented their high speed cameras and sensors (EA is another company that tracks sprint speed).
Bale's top speed of 34.7 makes sense. (Robben was downgraded by about 6km, as well).
25 mph would put Bale into elite Olympic sprinter territory. Best of the best. A medal favorite (If he could run 25mph on grass into wind, he would probably gain 1-2mph on a track) Donovan Bailey reached 27mph for instance.
Bale ran the 100m in 11.4 in high school. Adrian Peterson in high school ran it in 10.6.
Holla at me when Jordan claims Beisbol gave him an advantage over Euro/African player.![]()
Olajuwon saying it doesn't mean spit and I'm a Rockets homer (though I'm good about not being a blind homer). Soccer and basketball are very different sports though I'll give it to you that the back and forth sprinting with minimal breaks and his role as goal protector was similar in both cases.
Yeah, your words have more weight than the Hakeem's when it comes to Hakeem's PERSONAL experience.![]()
I dig that the EPL has (legit) stat-tracking now.
I'm literally addicted to MLBStatcast, so hopefully we see a similar thing happen for stat-tracking in other sports. Love to see the highest in game verts and sprint speeds in the NBA.
I think riding in cars and paying attention to the drivers, road and road signs helped me a lot when it came time to start driving. It doesn't make it true.
It's great he feels that way but it doesn't make it true. I'll take his word for it but it proves nothing.
Talk about an oxyMORON.![]()
If I tell you jumping on a trampoline helped me excel at football or track (it strengthens your legs after a while), would you believe me? Is something like that even verifiable or something we could generally agree on?
I'll take his word on it but just because he believes it doesn't make it true.
