Why not MLK, JFK, even GWB After 911?

Nazis are edgy and cool, right Maynard Manson Kadashian?
Those are also salient examples, but not quite analogous since they weren't rally's for a political party (although I dunno what you mean by JFK, that's really vague). Do any of your suggestions discredit mine? Or does the mention of Nazism offend you so much that you run to your safe space?

Yes, I made that comparison. Correctly identifying the fact that I made that comparison isn't an argument. Thus, crying "Nazis!" isn't a response to my suggestion that the impulse that drives people to watch/attend/cheer for politics' version of a high school pep rally is the same impulse that drove people to fascist rallies in the 30s. I wish you had something intelligent to say about it, but you'd rather play Miss Manners and try to insult me with Joe Rogan

I'm sorry you're so sensitive that an idea suggested on an Internet message board offends you so much that you cry about propriety and resort to making fun of a musician I like. You really need to toughen up buddy.
It's not that it offends me, but while the comparison may be construed as accurate in very broad terms, it was wildly inaccurate if you're to take into account any historical context.

The reason for your "edgy" post was simply to garner attention.

Or will you honestly stand behind your implied claim that any of the speeches tonight were fascist in nature? If so, which ones? I look forward to dismantling your feeble arguments.

Please, the 2 republicans are the father and brother of someone who was bitterly defeated by Trump in the primaries. And you believed the rosy America and world that Obama painted tonight? I don't know where you're from, but where I am - people are really hurting.
This is just too perfect coming from the person who thinks Rick Scott is an awesome governor. Just incredible.

My implied claim? Edgy? These are creations of your mind.

The question was: what motivates people to get caught up in these political rallies. All I'm suggesting is that the impulse that makes people say "yay Red Team" or "yay Blue team," is the same impulse that made people say "yay Nazis." That's an assertion that you haven't responded to -- playing Miss Manners, accusing me of being edgy, and Tl aren't arguments.

And I never once said, or suggested, the DNC is a nazi rally. Nor did I call any of the speeches explicitly or implied fascist. That's just your feigned outrage talking. All I said is that the impulse that drives people to cheer for this bull is the same impulse that drove people to cheer for the Nazis bull . Why is that so hard to understand?

Well it's great to see tha all the articles talking about this are on DailyCaller. Spoonfed moron is moron.

However, in 1952 Byrd avowed that "After about a year, I became disinterested [in the KKK], quit paying my dues, and dropped my membership in the organization,
    http://www.snopes.com/clinton-byrd-photo-klan/

"I know now I was wrong. Intolerance had no place in America. I apologized a thousand times ... and I don't mind apologizing over and over again. I can't erase what happened."
The NAACP is saddened by the passing of United States Senator Robert Byrd. Byrd, the longest serving member of congress was first elected to the U.S. House from [West Virginia] in 1952 and was elected Senator in 1958. Byrd passed away this morning at the age of 92.

"Senator Byrd reflects the transformative power of this nation," stated NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous. "Senator Byrd went from being an active member of the KKK to a being a stalwart supporter of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and many other pieces of seminal legislation that advanced the civil rights and liberties of our country.

"Senator Byrd came to consistently support the NAACP civil rights agenda, doing well on the NAACP Annual Civil Rights Report Card. He stood with us on many issues of crucial importance to our members from the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act, the historic health care legislation of 2010 and his support for the Hate Crimes Prevention legislation,
" stated Hilary O. Shelton, Director of the NAACP Washington Bureau and Senior Vice President for Advocacy and Policy. "Senator Byrd was a master of the Senate Rules, and helped strategize passage of legislation that helped millions of Americans. He will be sorely missed."

So exactly who is she supposed to explain to? You whitey?

    Romney also hates him
    McCain no-show, hates him
    Reagan's decedents hate him
decrepit Dole only one who shows up to the RNC show
not a single Republican standard bearer vouches for him

    people are really hurting

How bad were people hurting at the end of 2008, when your president presided over 2 million job losses in 4 months, the worst in 60 years? Handed off the country to the next administration in complete and total disaster?

    america sucks
we need a strong-armed dictator to restore order

let's kill the families of suspected terrorists

This is just too perfect coming from the person who thinks Rick Scott is an awesome governor. Just incredible.
Rick Scott has done a very good job with education (which is the single most important thing to pull people out of poverty) but that is something that takes a long time to reap the benefits of. He cannot undo the rules/regulations of eg. Obamacare that Obama has weighed businesses down with - nor failure of local governments to follow through with their promises e.g. Miami-Dade's 1/2 cent tax for mass transit.

Cool story. I'll wait here for proof Rick Scott is a good governor and the disadvantaged of Florida are BETTER off with him as governor.

Yes, the whole Republican establishment HATES him - while the Democrat nominee is the epitome of the corrupt, status quo, gravy train that both sides have going on in Washington DC. So if you want the donors and top 1% (who are funding Hillary at the tune of what? $2 billion while hardly anyone will fund Trump) to continue with the same old, same old that benefits only them, give your vote to Hillary. See if she doesn't turn right around and do her donors' bidding - believe every lie and position (which changes with the wind) she spews out to get your vote.

But if you want to take a chance on someone upsetting that apple cart, someone who doesn't need this job or anyone's money, someone who is brash enough not to care what the media or the establishment thinks - give Trump a listen.

Just who do you think (actually it's a full penny extra - 1/2 for mass transit, 1/2 cent for Jackson Memorial Hospital) an extra penny tax hurts the MOST - that's right - the poorest people. Maybe you don't have homeless/poor people where you are but there are lots here.

In and of themselves sure but they don't exist in a vacuum but instead as the only viable choices available and in opposition. If you want to talk about changing our political system then great I'll be with you 100% but you still have to live in the reality as it exists. Refusing to participate doesn't make things better.

Cool story but then you look at the actual policy proposals and platforms and your story quickly reveals itself as fantasy.

Wishful thinking on policy outcomes doesn't mitigate the poverty rate which went up while median household income decreased.

It's hard to believe Ron went out with a good approval rating. That "tear down this wall" bull went a long way to Reagan recovering from illegally selling weapons to Iran and letting the Contras import crack into our neighborhoods under CIA protection to fund their wars. In a social media-driven, 24/7 cable news era Reagan's ass would have been toast.
Standing up to the Soviets is what he's known for and he did help to bring the Cold War to an end by making the Soviets go bankrupt spending on military and foreign wars. Reagan's first term was really good, but he didn't have the same advisors/cabinet in his 2nd term and that hurt him when it came to the Iran Contra, lack of spending on AIDS research, and letting crony capitalism get out of control. But his approach to the Soviets was Kennedy like and ultimately helped bring the Cold War to an end. Plus he always had a positive message which appealed to everyone.
