That's a massive over promise of the effects of stimulus.
Obama's stimulus worked, as did his saving GM and Chrysler. Obama's stimulus was $2T too small.

Meanwhile, the Repug bull wars and their decades of aftermath incinerate many $Ts, while making America, and the West, less safe (but BigOil profited, profits fantastically)

So it worked but it was too small? You just contradicted yourself within two sentences. I agree we needed stimulus when the economy was in collapse, but we got about 85% of what was ideal in my opinion. A whole lot more stimulus would have yielded substantially diminished returns on investment.

They are already doing magnet schools which are deliberately located in bad neighborhoods but the parents do not take advantage of them (they require a special early application). School choice will open up all schools say, along the route to work or near to other relatives. At least, it gives parents and kids a choice - instead of being stuck in bad neighborhood schools.
I had a much longer rant about magnet schools here. But I'll just summarize to say that in Austin, at least, the magnet parts ended up walling themselves off from the "native populations". So rather than seeming like a light in a sea of darkness, it was more like a colony folks who interacted with their surroundings as little as possible. And the recruitment sucks. I was lucky in that it would've been manageable for my family, but for less fortunate people, getting across town wasn't practical.

What are your ideas of how to improve education - specifically k-12?
Well, I think a standard national curriculum is a nice start. We don't live in the age of city-states anymore. I understand having classes like regional history or tailoring some classes to fit the area. But it simply shouldn't be up to state legislatures to determine which scientific narrative's going to be considered truth within their borders.

I think teachers do need to be held accountable, but I also think they need to be paid more. If you offer enough money, more people will want to be teachers, and you can be more selective. If you treat them like professionals instead of laborers, you can probably get past most of the union squabbling. That'd also let you raise the educational standards for teachers, meaning you can get ones who actually went to school specifically to do the job rather than ones who just sort of floundered into it. How many people are seriously going to schlep their way through a master's degree?

The biggest thing is literally guaranteeing a consistent school experience for every school. Sure, you aren't going to have that one really awesome teacher anywhere you go. I mean, these guys are professionals now and have a right to work where they want. But you do everything in your power, incentivize to whatever extent it takes, to get the good ones to disperse. And you do what you have to to guarantee a safe learning environment, even though that will cost more money for poorer schools. And that protection should extend to commutes to and from the schools, as it does in college campuses. It's making sure that stressed, hard-working parents get the support they need while punishing negligent parents.

I'm not sure if that's specific enough for you. That might sound like wishful thinking, and it might sound too expensive to be practical. But by far, the government's biggest priority should be on education and health care. You guarantee a basic standard of health and the means to improve your station, and you can cut down on most other en lements.

The stimulus would not have been the most latter of your analogies. That's a massive over promise of the effects of stimulus.
The point is that debt is fine so long as it's good debt (investment in capital). And it's tolerable so long as it's needed debt (mortgage). It's bad if it's just spending to spend (sports car).

So it worked but it was too small? You just contradicted yourself within two sentences.
no contradiction, except in your limited head.

also, your opinion that the stimulus was nearly sufficient is bull . Stimulus should have been $3T+ and made available until it was all spent, unlike the Repugs who wanted to put unspent stimulus to pay down the debt.

the Fed bailed out criminal BigFinance with several $Ts (much of it secret at the time), but the Obama stimulus was too small to bail out the Real Economy (aka, non-BigFinance).

I read where only about 15% of the Fed's $Ts to BigFinance actually got into the Real Economy. The rest simply stayed in the BigFinance casino and/or went into salaries and bonuses, much of which went back into to the casino.

sewage+water treatment/distribution, electrical grid repair/modernization, road + bridges, dam removals, National Parks and Monuments, etc, are targets for govt investments, creating real jobs and real, long-term value.

America is crumbling 60+ years after the infrastructure explosion after WWII, and the Repugs refuse to finance repairs, investments, while pushing to privatize federal lands, National Parks, wetlands

the Repugs, and all you Repug voters.

Donald Trump was omitted from a Google search of presidential candidates earlier this week because of a "technical bug" in the search engine's information mapping system used for filtering top results.

"We found a technical bug in 'Search' where only the presidential candidates participating in an active primary election were appearing in a Knowledge Graph result," a Google spokesman told Snopes.com on Wednesday. "Because the Republican and Libertarian primaries have ended, those candidates did not appear.

Hillary has received 42 million in contributions from Wall street firms so far and Trump has received $100,000.

They clearly know which candidate they can buy.

yawn, we knew that years ago, dramatized by her astonishing shakedown tour between resigning from State and announcing for Pres.

It's probably in the market's interest for Trump to lose the election for a lot of reasons.

Well, if you feel that way, buy stocks ahead of a Hillary win. Otoh, if you feel a Trump win will crash the market, pull out money ahead and wait for cheap pickings.

Trash said he was rich, very rich, implying nobody could buy him, he had his own money. But now he's groveling around asking for donations, and failing. He's going to be trashed in so many ways.

I mean, that goes without saying, but I'm not the type to necessarily hope for market disarray and general social chaos just so I can get stocks cheaper. That seems kind of sociopathic imo.

He doesn't have that kind of cash even if wanted to. He would have to sell buildings or take out loans against them. Guys like Bloomberg or Ichan probably could come up with that kind of cash via their liquid assets if they wanted to...
