    Bye bye Brazil

Anyway, what counts if two or more teams finish with the same amount of points? Points differential?

It's a thank you contract, both you and I know he's not going to produce on the court at $14m... it's a well deserved retirement tour, tbh

Lithuania should be disqualified for what they did today.
They threw the game away, didnīt compete at all.

It was clearly on purpose, this way they can only finish 1st (if they win against Croatia) or 3rd (if they loose, and there is a 3 way tie, goal average will place them there) so they avoid the US until the final.

For real, they should be disqualified.

Do you think that is seeding related?
There was a bit of discussion about that kind of strategy when France lost to Brazil in a kind of surprising fashion.

The guy is also making 14M at age 39 this season. He might be the highest paid 39 year old in league history. With great wealth comes great responsibility. If he plays like ass, he's going to get ripped on just like Tony Parker does. There's not going to be any double standard. Btw, when people rag on Tony at age 34, keep in mind that he's played well over 10,000 more minutes than Ginobili so while he's 5 years younger, their NBA bodies are roughly the same age.
Yeah, because the minutes Manu has played in Argentina, Europe, and International ball doesn't count.

Also, it doesn't matter how much money Manu makes this season 'cause it didn't make any difference to us in terms of free agency.

If Nigeria beat Croatia (they're up 8 in the 3rd), Argentin a are sure to avoid USA in the quarter finals, right?

Parker's played 10,000+ more minutes than Ginobili at the highest level of basketball on the planet. I don't know how one can even begin to compare overseas basketball where the seasons are considerably shorter and there are players in their mid 40's and others who have retired in their early 50's while putting up respectable numbers to that of the NBA. While were at it, should we include college, high school and intramurals BBall too? I didn't even bring up Parker's international play because I didn't think it was necessary.

Ginobili has averaged 30+ minutes per game twice in his NBA career while tony has done it 11 times (10 times over 32 minutes). And people wonder why Tony's looked finished the last couple of years.

Manu is playing professional ball since he's 18, with summer ball in most of those years. The minutes argument isn't a good one son.

Thing is that Manu is still useful at age 40 'cause he's mighty skilled and intelligent. He can hit the three, he can hit the two, he can play with the ball, he can play off of it, he can pass the ball, he has supreme court vision, he can rebound, he can defend, he baits people into offensive fouls, etc.

When you are such a complete player, you have more chances of staying serviceable as your physical traits decline.

sad (again Brazil did not know how to close a game we should have won), but no matter, Spain did the same thing in London, the only solution would be a new raffle at the end of the qualifying

France might tank against USA, tbh. No need to bring out the secret plays in a meaningless game.

They should bring back the second group stage and then move the top 4 directly to the semifinals. In games, it would be only a 2 game increase, you can do it if you extend the tournament for 5 days.
    Group Stage 1
Two Groups with 6 teams on each group. 3 best teams in each group qualify for the next stage.

    Group Stage 2
One group with 6 teams on it, teams carry points and score differential only against qualified teams, the results against non qualified are discarded. In this group stage each team will face the 3 teams that has not faced yet in the torunament. Teams 1 to 4 qualify for the semifinals.

    Semifinals
    1-4
    2-3

    Final

This way you cannot tank without the risk of being eliminated.

Also Lithuania-Croatia is the last game of tomorrow, so they can fix the result according to what happens between Argentina and Spain.

fair, but probably the second phase would have the top five in each group (as in fiba americas)

You have to make it with 3 because if you make it with 5 you add too many games.

I just realise that because Lithuania gave up 50 to Spain, if Argentina looses to Spain they could finish 4th. Which is most likely as Croatia will win against Lithuania (because they have to and Lithuania doesn't).
