Was Parker guarded by the best perimeter defender in the league to make this comparison valid?
    Was Kobe 20 years old?

Parker had Janero Pargo guarding him. Kobe had Bruce Bowen guarding him.
Actually, if Phil was true to form, Pargo would be on Bowen, primarily, and Kobe on Parker.

No, that would make Kobe play more defense, not less. Kobe sucked at defense.

Not then, he didn't. He was actually outstanding the first half of his career.

No, he wasn't. He was never "outstanding" at defense; I wouldn't even argue he was average, because he sucked. And early in his career it was Lue and the likes, not Kobe on Iverson.

1:34:10 "Speedy Claxton in for the ineffective Tony Parker; his biggest shot of the night."

...Afterwards, MT talking about Claxton over Parker because Kidd was shredding Parker on offense.

Kidd was "shredding" Parker by shooting worse than him from the field? Interesting.

And oh yah, would want to mention the 2003 Finals without mentioning the 6 PPG that Claxton put up (almost half of Parker that series).

These are Announcers. It's their job to call the game how they see it.

with the game on the line... parker's ass was on the bench while manu was on the floor for:

-game 6 against the mavs in 2003

-game 6 against the nets in 2003

-game 5 against the grizzles in 2011 (regulation + overtime)

-game 6 against okc in 2014 (regulation + overtime)

-game 3 against the grizzles in 2016

those are just some 4th quarters i can remember off the top of my head.

Are you trying to be a ing re ?

    2003 NBA Finals

    Parker: 35.3 MPG, 14 PPG, 38.6 FG
    Claxton: 12.5 MPG, 6.2 PPG, 56.0 FG

And Kidd was the Nets leading scorer b/c of Parker's bad defense. They put Claxton in whenever he was starting to get hot. But frankly, all the nets shot like sh** that series.

This is why Claxton was the one to close out the 03 Finals as well as other big playoff games like in the Lakers series.

So announcer commentary is valid when it goes against Parker but not when they call Parker the best PG in the NBA?

You're the one overrating the impact of a mediocre role player who put up less than half the production of the starting PG who was the second option throughout the playoffs (including the Finals). You're the one propping up a guy because he scored 6 points in a quarter. Then you devalue Parker doing twice that in 2014.

Parker was not reliable back in the day. It was akin to beno in his early years.

One year in the playoffs i remember beno bringing the ball up the court and went to dribble behind his back from his left hand to his right and it was like a pass directly to the defender for a uncontested fastbreak and layup.

Parker's playoff performances in his first few years were cringeworthy as well at times imo

I guess in 2012 top 3 and number 1 in 2013. I even have accounts on other website saying this. It's not news to me. He's done though. What don't you understand?

seriously... parker was an mvp candidate at a point in his career... he's far from that now. sas is stuck in the past like it's his job...

SASdynasty! wants parker to start for the next 50 years. minimum.

The fat head era is just beginning. Ljc also seems to be high on the irrational hate meter.
